NSPanel Pro Roadmap and Co-Created Future

Hello our dear eWeLink and SONOFF users:

Welcome to join the special discussion on the product roadmap and possible future of SONOFF NSPanel Pro!

In order to ensure that the direction of our product iterations aligns with your expectations for NSPanel Pro, we are taking a sincere step today: I would like to share with you the product roadmap for the next 4 versions. At the same time, I sincerely look forward to your participation in the planning discussions for the future versions.

We are sharing these plans not merely as a notice, but as an open invitation. We sincerely welcome your participation in the discussion and your sharing of your ideas. Let’s work together to shape the future of NSPanel Pro.

The Roadmap: Recent 4 versions that we are going to develop

v4.1.0 on November 6th, 2025

Core features

  • Matter Bridge chapter 1: NSPanel Pro can act as a Matter Bridge which could bridge all kinds of non-Matter devices to Matter ecosystems (Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, Samsung SmartThings, etc.). As the first step, NSPanel Pro will be able to bridge its Zigbee devices in this version.

  • Export Zigbee devices to Home Assistant: NSPanel Pro is embracing Home Assistant ecosystem. In v4.0.x firmware, NSPanel Pro supports installing Home Assistant companion app through F-Droid app store. In this version, NSPanel Pro will be able to export its Zigbee devices to Home Assistant through Home Assistant’s MQTT Discovery protocol.

v4.2.0 on December 8th, 2025

Core features

  • Matter Bridge chapter 2: NSPanel Pro will be able to bridge eWeLink devices including Wi-Fi devices, Zigbee devices connect to other eWeLink Zigbee Hub, locally or through eWeLink cloud in this version.

  • Always auto-start on system boot: By default, NSPanelPro App is the Home Appaka Launcher, so it will always run when NSPanel Pro boots. When you launch other app through F-Droid -> Settings -> Installed Applications, NSPanelPro App is still running in the background and provides an AssistiveTouch button for you to click in order to go back to it (bring NSPanelPro App to foreground). But if you set other app such as Home Assistant companion app as Home App, NSPanelPro App won’t start after system reboot, which disables all the goodies NSPanelPro App provides. In this version, NSPanelPro App will always auto-start on system boot no matter it’s Home App or not.

Additional features

  • Apps Screen and App Switcher: There will be a dedicated screen to list all the apps you installed through F-Droid or adb. You can tap on the icon of an app to launch (open) it. If you have multiple apps running at the same time, you can use App Switcher to quickly switch between them.

  • System-level screensaver: The name says it all. I think a lot of us want it desperately. At least, I am.

  • Remote update through eWeLink App: Currently, NSPanel Pro can only be updated by physically interacting with it. This is not ridiculous, there are rational reasons behind it, but it is very inconvenient, especially when we are introducing a lot of new features (and inevitably a few bugs). All other eWeLink devices, such as SONOFF MINIR4, can be updated remotely through eWeLink App. We’ll fill the gap for NSPanel Pro in this version.

  • Reorder default screens: Default screens is in fixed position in screen list. For example, Device screen always comes at the very end. This is not convenient if you prefer to use NSPanel Pro’s touch screen to control other smart home devices in your house. In v4.2.0, you can finally put default screens anywhere you want.

  • Notification optimization: Audio notification on the screen will support custom audio content and text notification will support custom text content.

v4.3.0 on January 8th, 2026

Core features

  • Matter Bridge chapter 3: NSPanel Pro will be able to bridge Home Assistant devices through HA’s WebSocket API to 3rd-party Matter ecosystems.

  • Support BTHome V2 protocol: BTHome is an open standard for broadcasting sensor data and button presses over Bluetooth LE.

Additional features

  • Export NSPanel Pro itself to Home Assistant: NSPanel Pro is able to export its Zigbee devices to Home Assistant in v4.1.0. In this version, NSPanel Pro will be able to export its own capabilities, such as speaker, ambient light sensor, to Home Assistant.

  • Zigbee Mode Switch optimization: Switching between Zigbee Hub Mode and Zigbee Router Mode will cause NSPanel Pro to revert to its factory settings (Factory Reset), and to be removed from your eWeLink account. This is truely ridiculous. We will fix it in this version.

v4.4.0 on February 9th, 2026

Core features

  • Thermostat resurrection: Thermostat feature is pretty basic in previous versions. We plan to do a big upgrade for thermostat in this version, including, but not limited to, multiple execution devices, preset and custom modes, powerful schedule.

  • Zigbee improvement in performance and compatibility: The built-in Zigbee NCP firmware will be upgraded to 8.x, and we’ll fully incorperate zigbee-herdsman and zigbee-herdsman-converters to better support 3rd-party and non-standard Zigbee devices.

Additional features

  • Zigbee Channel Management: We plan to provide a small tool for you to find better Zigbee channel for your NSPanel Pro.

The Co-Created Future: Tell us what you want, and which feature should be prioritized

We know the wisdom of the community is boundless. Here are features that we are currently evaluating but have not yet scheduled. If you are interested or have any requirements, we look forward to your participation in the discussion.

  • VUI Entry: Home Assistant has built a specific device called Home Assistant Voice Preview edition, which is basically a speaker and microphone for Home Assistant’s voice pipeline (the voice assistant backend). We think NSPanel Pro’s speaker and microphone could also do the job if you want to save several bucks.

  • Wave your hand to turn on the display: To turn on the display of NSPanel Pro, you need to tap on the screen first. Is there a better way? One of our dear users showed us the magic: wave hand in front of NSPanel Pro, the display will be automatically turned on.

  • Support SIP protocol: SIP is the IETF standard protocol for VoIP. There are many SIP-based intercom systems sit beside smart home systems. NSPanel Pro could blend in those intercom systems by supporting SIP protocol.

  • Support other MQTT protocols: Tasmota? ChirpStack?

  • Support more languages: Lithuanian, etc.

If you need a feature that is not listed, or if you have additional requirements regarding existing features, please reply this topic. Making you satisfied is our top priority.

PS: I am the newly appointed product manager of NSPanel Pro. We are a relatively small team consisting of 5 developers and 2 testers. We’ll work hard to live up to your expectations. We also sincerely appreciate your understanding and tolerance.

Nice RoadMap! Look forward too see all implemented :ok_hand:

Great roadmap, thank you very much for sharing.

As winter is comming soon on northern hemisphere (Europe), maybe termostat might get higher priority?

Got it. I’ll see what we can do to prioritize the thermostat feature.

Great work Gents! I wish If I could add URLs for ip cameras not only on the nspanel but in the app. URL is long and complicated would be much easier to enter or copy paste in the Ewelink app. Please consider this improvement. Greetings from Poland!

A thermostat is a priority.

We need a thermostat that can control ZigBee and Wi-Fi devices locally without connecting to the eWeLink cloud.

The thermostat’s accuracy should be (+/- 0.1°C). The temperature control range is (-20 to 250°C).

I want to use the thermostat to control a freezer, a dough proofer, an oven, and temperature control in an aquarium, terrarium, etc.

Great suggestion! We’re reviewing this for our product roadmap.

Who sets your priorities? You have great products, but you can’t release new firmware and say you’ll have a working thermostat in a year.

The thermostat should have been the first, people use nspanel to control the heating. I hope you have considered my comment. so that the thermostats in NSpanel can control device without turning each other off.

Our dear users like you set our priorities  We are listening to your feedback, right? NSPanel Pro is not another thermostat in our original product definition.

We got it. If thermostat should be a major feature (selling point), we’ll definitely implement it as soon as possible.

I have several homes where nspanel controls the heating. Can you imagine what it would be like if their thermostat didn’t work?

This forum is full with NSPanel Pro issues, maybe start with them?

On topic, I salute Sonoff embracing Home Assistant as for me NSpanel became just a screen with 4 buttons that control heating trough Home assistant as Ewelink can’t manage complex scenarios.

Want to creat a great thermostat? Is not just to look good, it needs to be usefull. I need to be able (hopefully trough its zigbee) to control switching relays for pumps, actuators, fans and have a minimum regarding inching, delays or other rules. I own a house, a basic thermostat functionality is limited for me. (I explained here Manual scene enabling other auto scenes doesn't work - #20 by danordean ) and this is why I give up on NSPanel (see here Many years of using Sonoff and eWeLink - but I'm tired of the problems with it. What alternative? ).

On other matter, maybe improve the responsivness? Is slow, laggy. Also popup pages to group the icons in more relevant way (read may rant here: Sonoff NSPanel Pro - #7 by danordean or here: Ns-panel - ability to "show as seperate tiles" - #2 by danordean )

It is good to se that you focus on this great product, maybe I will return to it in the future. As for now I mounted cheap tablets around the house that combined with Kiosk browser and HA resoved what I expected NSPanel to do.

It’s not funny anymore. The new update turns on my light during the day and opens the gate.

Please submit a log and send us information through a private message. We’ll look into it ASAP.

This topic is for discussing roadmap and possible features, not for bug report

According to the roadmap, you do not plan to return ihost support to nspanel pro and the web brouser ist unusable for youtube and etc

Hola

You do not plan to return ihost support to nspanel pro.

iHost support? You mean local eWeLink CAST on NSPanel Pro? You can use Webpages to add local eWeLink CAST from iHost to NSPanel Pro.

The web brouser ist unusable for youtube and etc

What do you mean by ist unusable? You can always use Webpages to add web page shortcut and open it with the built-in web browser. The built-in web browser uses the same Chromium Webview as Android phones do.

Again, if you met issue and want to report a problem, please do it with another topic or send us private message. This topic is not for bug report.

Those were questions not bug reports.

I tried playing music through nspanel to my bluetooth speakers and the picture and sound were lagging. That’s why I wrote that don’t use it

Hello
I purchased the NS Panel Pro 120 and the Sonoff CAM-B1P camera in October 2025, but the camera image isn’t displaying on the NS Panel. When will the camera be visible on the panel? There’s no mention of this in the pending updates.

Yes, this is a known issue of SONOFF CAM-B1P. The default 1080p H.265 video stream is too high for NSPanel Pro. According to my knowledge, it will be fixed by SONOFF (not NSPanel Pro) in December.

Another suggested improvement is that the panel should display all system switches on a single screen, but I can’t create separate screens for different switches. For example, I’d like to have one screen for light switches and another for electric door and gate switches, to prevent false activations.

Display all system switches on a single screen? I’m not quite understand what you mean. By default, if you add Zigbee devices, they will all display in Custom Screen1.

but I can't create separate screens for different switches. There are 5 other screens (Custom Screen 2/3/4/5/6) for you to add your devices to. You can manage the screens and its content of your NSPanel Pro through eWeLink App.

También al estar reproduciendo por ejemplo You Tube en el Panel, si quiero en ese momento pasar de pantalla como para activar una luz, no deja y hay q salirse de You Yube para pasar de pantalla.

Also, when playing YouTube on the panel, for example, if I want to switch screens to activate a light, it doesn’t work, and I have to exit YouTube to change screens.

Yes, this is a known limitation. We are working on it. We are going to introduce Apps Screen and App Switcher feature in v4.2.0 firmware which should provide much better experience when switching between Apps.

Thank you very much for your feedback and suggestions.

This forum is full with NSPanel Pro issues, maybe start with them?

We are constantly fixing bugs and releasing bugfix versions. It is v4.0.10 now if you haven’t noticed it. We are developing v4.1.0 at the same time. So discussing and implementing roadmap does not conflict with fixing bugs.

These are valuable feedbacks. We do take it seriously.

On other matter, maybe improve the responsivness? Is slow, laggy.

That’s the main goal we aim to achieve in v4.0.x firmware. We’ve got many positive feedbacks regarding the performance and responsiveness.

It would be great to us if you could try out the latest firmware.
