I am try today play YouTube and no lag. excellent work.
Iâm grateful for all your work and care you put in. I will try the latest firmware.
But this is not about my outdated device. I tried to explain as from an user perspective with goods and bads.
Not everyone uses HA or built-in apps, so
-OpenAPI to wake up screen/set screensaver delay (as in v3.8.x, hoping it doesnât get deprecated + needs some logic tinkering around delay activation when user touches the screen after API call)
-Responsive full kiosk browser with no upper screen click displaying address bar (making upper screen pretty much unusable for interaction)
Thank you for your feedback. To better understand your needs, could you describe your specific use case and what would trigger the screen to wake up?
Additionally, a screenshot demonstrating the Kiosk browser behavior would be very helpful.
Considering the current direction of NSPanel Proâs development - especially with Matter Bridge integration, Home Assistant connectivity, and support for open standards like BTHome - remote access and file transfer capabilities are becoming less of a convenience and more of a necessity. Managing the device through its small touchscreen is impractical for advanced configurations, and without an official method for uploading files or accessing the system externally, its potential remains limited. Introducing a secure remote interface (e.g. Web UI, API, or file upload endpoint) would greatly enhance usability and unlock the full value of NSPanel Pro for power users.
Additionally, with the planned adoption of zigbee-herdsman and broader support for third-party Zigbee devices, a built-in Zigbee network map would be extremely valuable. It would allow users to visualize device connections, signal strength, and routing paths, which is essential for troubleshooting and optimizing mesh performance. Given the scope of upcoming Zigbee improvements, this feature feels not only useful but necessary.
Even lightweight devices like Dongle-M offer basic web interfaces for configuration and diagnostics. NSPanel Pro, with its Android base and Wi-Fi connectivity, is more than capable of hosting a minimal web UI for setup, monitoring, and file transfer. This would significantly improve usability and align with the expectations of power users.
When you started this project, I didnât expect it to be so ambitious. Your plans have exceeded my wildest expectations. A-b-s-o-l-u-t-e-l-y m-i-n-d-b-l-o-w-i-n-g! I think that we all say so ![]()
After my recent experience, I would really stick to basics prior to any advanced developement.

Termostat on NSpanel Pro simply does not work, basicaly it fails to operate actuator

v.4.0.12 is better, but still far from stable - requires restart, even if not every 24 hours.
Roadmap is impresive, but get current functionality working as first step.
The eWeLink team has been working on it all along. Detecting bugs and further development are not mutually exclusive.
Yes, they do and thank a lot for ongoing support.
But anyway, resources are always limited, so IMHO would be better to stabilize 4.0 prior a future development.
They do some things from the table. A clear example is the heating control, they should have consulted with someone who deals with heating control. The development reminds me of the style of âIâll see how it goes in the morning.â But they try and the products are of a high level.
Iâm never connecting Hikvision again. Itâs expensive and full of problems. I install Sonoff and itâs fine as long as the device doesnât break.
You mightâve missed it, but their development plan actually follows stages. Shocking, I know. Thatâs why they ask for feedback: to collect ideas, not to instantly drop everything and implement them on the spot. From what I can tell, theyâre currently focused on fixing bugs and polishing whatâs already been released.
So no, I donât think my comment will make them abandon all improvements and rush into building new features overnight. You worry too much
.
Here is a simple diagram to visualize my use case, in which NSPanel is basically only a slightly smarter responsive display. I have automation system (not HA) with web UI, and Iâve created a minified views for NSPanel usage. I use automation system data to trigger NSPanel screen sleep/wake up based on sensor data. The UI also has screensaver functionality, the status of which is also sent to automation system to be taken into account with sleep/wake up logic.
Sleep/wake up works fine unless user touches the screen â it seems NSPanel doesnât respect delay se in openAPI call after this user intervention, and that is problematic and causes the screen to go to sleep before I want it to. Iâve tried to make a workaround by making additional calls after user intervention but havenât fully overcome the problem.
Iâve drawn a yellow line in the picture to show the âunusableâ portion of the screen (clicking on or above yellow line level displays address bar, which is not desired in my use case, I canât use responsive elements in this upper portion). Iâd like to use the full screen area, as it isnât too big to begin with â but that said, NSPanel currently fits my need better than other products that I know of.
I also know other people who already use NSPanel solely as a kiosk browser to display custom data, or are looking for a product to do so.
@JoJo What are the plans for Matter Hub in Nspanel Pro?
Will Nspanel Pro support new types of Matter devices?
For example, Matter presence sensors or light intensity sensors.
+1 for âWave your hand to turn on the displayâ.
Itâs a must have feature in dark spaces and just super convenient when the display turns on when you approach it.
Great work, cannot wait to test particularly native support for HA companion app!. Are you able to comment on performance of the HA companion app on 4.1+ compared to 3.7/sideloaded HA companion app?
Hi yes âWAKE ON WAVEâ feature should be in road map
The chipset support this feature no too sure why this has never been enabled yet as is a very useful, but yes eWeLink team working on this so hopefully soon we will get this
Hi, thank you very much for your interest in NSPanel Pro v4.x firmware.
Regarding to the performance of Home Assistant companion app in v4.x firmware and in v3.7 firmware, it should be the same. Because Home Assistant companion app is essentially a web app which runs in the built-in Android System WebView, and the built-in WebView hasnât changed from v3.7 and v4.x.
PS: Currently the version of the built-in WebView of NSPanel Pro is v131 (released almost 1 year ago) while the latest is v142. We have plan to update the built-in Android System WebView.
also @tarmo
Weâll definitely implement this feature. @JoJo Letâs see if we could achieve it sooner.
Thank you very much for this detailed explanation. ![]()
I now fully understand your usage scenario, and you actually answered my question about why people talk about kiosk browser on NSPanel Pro.
@JoJo We should bring this feature back online ASAP.
Hi,thank you for the +1 and the great feedback! We agree itâs super convenient for dark spaces. This is a priority for our future plans.
Dear Michael,
thank you very much for such a rapid and detailed response. It really is gladdening when, as a customer, you can see such enthusiasm from a company to improve their product!
WRT the webview, this would be welcome. I note the companion app development has marched on a pace and my current version has lost considerable capabilities with recent HA updates. I have not yet checked the webview requirements for later companion app updates but am sure the upgrade would be a welcome addition!
