[Discussion] About ZigBee2CUBE and NON-Zigbee 3.0 devices compatibility

I figured it out! I remembered that the one that worked was the first I bought, months ago. Then I remembered that Zigbee2CUBE didn’t always exist for iHost. As soon as I turned Zigbee2CUBE off and deleted the uncontrollable bulbs (they flashed to acknowledge being disconnected), did the 6 long off short on reset for the TRADFRI bulbs so they started soft pulsing. Then boom, they pair with full control! Strangely the firmware is still reporting as 0.2. Not too worried about that if they work though.

For anyone coming along behind. I had an issue where IKEA Tradfri LED1924G9 was pairing with iHost, but wouldn’t allow me to control the colour of the bulb. Turning off Zigbee2CUBE and re-pairing added the colour control back! IKEA model number was 505.176.37

A Reminder for Zigbee RGB Light Devices on eWeLink CUBE

Hey, I’ve noticed many posts about the missing ability of some Zigbee devices on iHost, especially for Tuya devices. A typical case is missing RGB control for lights. From the UI, you can only see types and control cards, such as temperature, light brightness, and water leakage status. But behind the front end, they are supported by individual clusters. And some brands love using modified clusters for their devices. For instance, a soil humidity sensor won’t use humidity as the cluster name…

I have had 2 IKEA Tradfri bulbs for a while now that I had paired but couldn’t control with Ihost.
I tried disabling Zigbee2CUBE in the pilot features and repairing both bulbs.

I can now fully control both bulbs directly through the Sonoff Ihost UI and using Node-RED.

The bulbs are

1. 605.456.73 - LED2201G8 - IKEA Tradfri LED 1055 lm
2. 305.474.71 - LED2109G6 - IKEA Tradfri LED 806 lm

Thanks for the suggestion. I had seen that post in my search, but it didn’t help in this case.

My next challenge is getting the IKEA TRETAKT mains switch to work (805.565.14). It only pairs when Zigbee2CUBE is turned on. But it doesn’t show any controls, even in the scene builder as suggested in the topic linked.
I’m assuming this UK version is the same internals as the EU one here:

As far as I know, it’s not supported yet.

IKEA plugs generally have the same module across regions, at least for TRADFRI. If Z2M merges these versions, my assumption would be right.

Zigbee2CUBE Exits Beta:

The V2.3.0 update also brings several improvements to Zigbee functionality. The Zigbee2CUBE (Z2C) feature, previously in pilot beta, has been officially integrated into the platform. You can now add all supported Zigbee devices through the unified “Add Device” entry on the home page. The Z2C component offers extensive support for more devices and ability sets, also enabling our developer team to better integrate Zigbee devices with all the other features eWeLink CUBE offers, like Matter Bridge and Smart Scenes.

As the old Zigbee component is retired, certain devices may have compatibility issues and are no longer supported. If you’re having issues with your devices, try resetting and pairing them with eWeLink CUBE again. This can fix most problems that pop up during the migration. And don’t hesitate to reach out for help from us.

After the release, we also plan to make Zigbee compatibility more accessible by maintaining a list of devices that are tested to work with eWeLink CUBE. This will make it easier for you to choose new devices.
