Zigbee not working on iHost

Hello everyone:

Since installing the open-source project “HA on iHost,” Zigbee hasn’t been working on my iHost. Also, since installing the project, a red light has been flashing from bottom to top on the device. Since I have a server with Home Assistant running on a virtual machine and I prefer eWeLink, I uninstalled the project, but Zigbee still hasn’t recovered.
Has anyone else experienced this problem? Does anyone know how to get the Zigbee receiver working again?

I tried connecting a ZBDongle-E 3.0 to the USB-A port of the iHost, but it’s not being recognized.

Have you tried adding it manually?

I have tried to add it manually, but I have only found the possibility of doing it through Labs > Turbo. It doesn’t detect it and then I try to configure it with the /dev/ttyACM0 and /dev/tty/USB0 ports.
In protocol stack I have tried ezsp and deconz. In baud rate with 115200 and in flow control I have selected hardware.
With none of the configurations I have been able to detect it.
Impossible through the Settings menu because I don’t get any possible option to configure Zigbee.

Just contact support.

Thank you. I’ve also contacted support and am waiting for a response, but if anyone here has any previous experience with this, I’d try to follow it.

You mean you can access the Web UI of iHost (http://ihost.local), but the built-in Zigbee Hub is not working, right?

Did you update the firmware of built-in MG21 chip using SONOFF Dongle Flasher Add-on when you run Home Assistant over iHost?

No, I didn’t update and I already uninstalled Home Assistant

Hello! To better assist you in troubleshooting the Zigbee-related issues with your iHost, could you kindly help confirm a few details?

Access to the local web interface:
Are you currently able to access the iHost’s local web interface (Web UI), for example by visiting http://ihost.local in your browser?

Regarding the issue with Zigbee not working properly:
Could you please describe in more detail what’s happening? For instance:

  • Are you unable to discover any Zigbee devices at all?
  • Or does the page get stuck on “pairing” or “searching” when trying to add a device, without completing the process?

If possible, you’re welcome to contact our customer support, or submit feedback directly through the iHost local web interface and attach any relevant screenshots or screen recordings. This would help us understand the issue more clearly.

We truly appreciate your cooperation and support—we’ll follow up promptly once we receive more information.

Hi Minnie:

I have access to the local interface via the iHost web interface, but I don’t have all the options. I’ve attached screenshots so you can see what I can access.

When I turn on the device, a red light stays on, moving from bottom to top. It doesn’t change, and I never see the blue light agai n .

All of this started after I installed the open-source Home Assistant project for iHost. Zigbee stopped working. I then uninstalled it by erasing the SD card, but Zigbee didn’t recover. Finally, I installed version 2.9.0 of eWeLink Cube, but it’s still the same. All the devices I had detected are go n e.

I go to the Home screen and tap Add Device and Start Setup, and the screen spends 180 seconds searching until the timer finishes and it says it hasn’t detected anyth i ng.

I’ve tried configuring the SNZB-02D thermo-hygrometer, the THR316D humidity and temperature sensor, and the SNZB-06P presence sensor. I haven’t tried to get it to detect the switches behind the outlets so I don’t have to remove them. It doesn’t detect the ones I’ve tried, even several occa si ons.

Then I bought the Zigbee 3.0 USB Dongle Plus ZBDongle-E and plugged it into the USB-A port on iHost, but it’s not recognized, not even when I try to configure it through Labs > Turbo Mode. Since it’s not recognized, that’s the only place that opens a Zigbee configuration wi ndow.

Furthermore, the same Labs > Turbo Mode screen tells you to go to Settings > Hardware, but I don’t have tha t o ption.

I’m providing this information here because I already submitted a support ticket, but although my account logs into itead without problems, I can’t access support; it gives an error and it’s impossible to track the issue. Even so, I’ll submit all this information as a new ticket because, as I said, I can’t access the previous one. I’ll take this opportunity to submit another ticket for th at r eason.

Please let me know if you need any further info rmat ion.

I submitted the issue to support on the page that appears, but it didn’t give me the option to attach the screenshots, which I was able to add via the forum as an additional document.

Hello, thank you very much for your continued feedback! We sincerely apologize for the less-than-ideal experience you’ve encountered. To accurately help you resolve this issue, we need your assistance in confirming the current firmware status of the MG21 chip. Below are the specific troubleshooting and repair steps:

Did you ever use the SONOFF Dongle Flasher Add-on to update the firmware and version of the built-in MG21 chip while running Home Assistant on your iHost? A higher version or incorrect MG21 firmware can cause the iHost’s Zigbee functionality to stop working.

You can confirm whether the MG21 chip’s firmware and version are correct by following these steps:

  1. Re-run the Home Assistant system on your iHost via an SD card.
  2. Install the SONOFF Dongle Flasher Add-on in Home Assistant (please refer to: GitHub - iHost-Open-Source-Project/hassio-ihost-addon: This repository contains a set of Home Assistant add-ons developed specifically for SONOFF iHost. · GitHub ). Connect to the built-in MG21 chip and check its current firmware and version.
  3. Verify if the connected chip’s firmware is the Zigbee NCP firmware (i.e., the coordinator firmware) and if the version is the official version supported by CUBE (version 6.10.9).

If it is not the specified firmware and version, please use this Add-on to reflash the correct firmware and version. After flashing is complete, switch back to iHost and confirm whether the Zigbee function is working normally.

If the issue persists, please submit feedback through the iHost local web interface (http://ihost.local) and be sure to check the “Upload System Logs” option. Once we receive your information, we will immediately submit it to our technical team for investigation and keep you updated on the progress. Thank you again for your understanding and support!

Thank you so much, Ms. Minnie, for your help. I’ve managed to get Zigbee working again.

If anyone else encounters the same problem, the steps to follow are those Ms. Minnie outlined in the previous message.
Don’t waste time searching for the Zigbee firmware, because Sonoff Dongle Flasher will offer compatible versions in the second step. I chose version 6.10.9 because that’s what Ms. Minnie told me to use, and the tool also suggests it.
Furthermore, the red light has gone off after fixing Zigbee.
Once again, thank you so much for your invaluable help.
