The panel doesn’t run Home Assistant! It can only run the Home Assistant companion app, so yes, you’ll still need a server running Home Assistant, etc…
Remember, this wasn’t designed to run the Home Assistant server.

hi what device are you using to cast the display? any specific tablet model?
I couldn’t find a tablet with a suitable connector location. Now I use mobile phones, NSPP and computer.
Hmm
No way for me.
I’ve been saying from the beginning that local scenes are needed, like iHost. I’m glad it was confirmed.
I hope, when they add the local scenes to NSPP2 they will provide it shortly to the original NSPP!
I’ll believe it when I see it… In the case of ZBBridge-P, it also had local scenes operating without the cloud. Even the marketing materials mentioned it. But then they quietly withdrew from it and currently there are no local scenes, so in this case I wouldn’t be sure what they would do.
And when I say local scenes, I mean the full functionality of all devices in a given ecosystem, such as ZigBee, for example. Currently, only CubeOS offers this option, but from what I’ve heard it’s not 100% perfect either.
I’m not sure if this will happen because the problem may be hardware limitations.
I hope they will be local just like CubeOS, otherwise NSPP is unacceptable for me personally. I asked multiple times to what extent this would be local, and I didn’t receive an answer. If it’s going to be local like it is now, then I’m not interested as a seller and installer.
It certainly won’t be like CubeOS, but it could handle adding multiple devices and a certain number of screens.
@reghorse76 Thank you for your detailed feedback — especially coming from someone who has used both NSPanel Pro and iHost. I’ve read every word carefully.
NSPanel Pro Gen2 adds a dual-channel relay for external switches or lighting on/off devices. Two corresponding control buttons will appear on the main screen UI. The screen size remains the same.
I understand where you’re coming from. Gen2 still has 2GB of RAM — I won’t avoid that. Based on current real-world usage of NSPanel Pro, 2GB is sufficient to support existing features. That said, I’ve noted your concerns and will bring them into our internal discussions for long-term product planning.
NSPanel Pro Gen2 Key upgrades and their value for an experienced user like you:
Storage (32GB): NSPanel Pro comes with the F-Droid app store built in, allowing you to download and install additional apps directly. With 32 GB of storage, you’ll have plenty of space for more apps without worrying about running out.
Zigbee chip: MG24
Supports Zigbee 3.0 with stronger RF performance.
Wi-Fi: added 5G band support
Reduces interference on the 2.4GHz band.
Speaker: 1.5W
Delivers higher quality audio for notifications and voice interactions.
These upgrades should offer a noticeably more solid experience compared to the previous generation, particularly for power users with many devices and high sensitivity to response time.
Your reasons for not buying Gen2 are clear, and I respect your decision. Still, thank you for taking the time to write this — it’s a valuable reminder for us.
@Jojkoba Thank you for your recognition and support! Local scene functionality is already on our roadmap, and we’ll do our best to make it available as soon as possible. Of course, whether to purchase or not ultimately depends on your actual needs. If you have any further questions or suggestions, feel free to keep the conversation going.

The result of these hardware upgrades is: a better overall experience.
Feel free to ask if you have any other questions.
If you’re asking whether the NSPanel 120 will support local Zigbee device addition and local scenes.

I have good news: both features are on its roadmap. That said, the detailed scope and release timeline are still under evaluation by the team — but the general direction is clear.
If you’d like to share which specific features you care about most, I’ll be happy to track them more closely for you. Thanks for your understanding and support!
The NSPanel Pro Gen2 can download and install the Home Assistant client app via the F-Droid app store. Once installed, it can act as a control panel / display for Home Assistant, connecting to your existing HA server (for example, an HA instance running on a Raspberry Pi, a NAS, HA Green, or other hardware).
The Gen2 does not run the HA server independently — it is not a replacement for a Raspberry Pi, HA Green, or other dedicated HA host.
Hi, the aspect I’m interested in is an NPP with an onboard relay. I’d be particularly interested if it were a dry contact because it would be the ideal solution for having the NPP control the boiler and manage the TRVZBs. Thanks.
Hi, as I have written many times, it is important to have local scenes for my customers, without that it is unsellable. Either the internal is weak or the customers are paranoid. I personally would buy NSPP v2 for my house, because I can work both locally and via the Cloud.
I’m going to build a house where they want an alarm, automatic shutdown of electricity in case of fire, intelligent control.
The shortcomings that I perceive on your part are that NSPP cannot effectively inform in case of an alarm that something has happened, I miss a smoke sensor and a siren (indoor/outdoor) from Sonoff. I have mentioned local scenes several times.
For me, an important function is installation access, when the customer messes up the scenes or deletes the device. So my options for fixing it are almost zero. For me, installation access opens up possibilities for a quick response and for us the possibility of further profit.
Thanks for your detailed answer … this is a great help.
Honestly, I wouldn’t trust Sonoff solutions for such a crucial implementation.
I’d rather consider more professional, dedicated solutions. Sonoff is good for amateur use, but building a new home’s security based on it is a rather poor idea.
Any sensor that can be wired should be wired, because radio communication in critical systems is a poor idea.
