Problem Matter Issue Matter after Update 1.12.0

I still have the problem mentioned when creating the post.

Has anyone managed to resolve the integration (after updating 1.12.0) with HomeKit?

what‘s your cpu and memory occupy when you pairing?

Devices connected via Matter are recognized again as new devices on Alexa, after a power cycle. Steps I did:

  1. First of all, before updatind to 1.12 I removed all devices from alexa (echo 8 2nd gen) and disabled Matter on ihost.
  2. Installed the update, enabled Matter and started the pairing process again. I have 2 devices: sonoff mini extreme (wi-fi) and Tuya zigbee 3 gang switch module. they appear with random weird names, so I renamed them. Otherwise are recognized and working correctly with Alexa via Matter.
  3. I powered off ihost and unplugged from energy. Then I turned it on again. Alexa instantly warned me about new devices found under the matter hub (ihost). The devices I previously configured and renamed now shows as irresponsive, and with the original names again, although, I can still turn then on/off via alexa app.
  4. After a while they update status correctly but the original names are lost. For example the sonoff relay shows up with a random sequence of characters as it’s name again.

(Marked in red is the sonoff relay. Yellow is the 3 gang relay group)

found in google home help.

Note: If you don’t have a Matter-enabled Google hub, the Google Home app prompts you that a hub is required to control your Matter-enabled device through the Google Home app. You can still add your Matter-enabled device to the Google Home app, however you won’t be able to control it from the app or with Google Assistant.
:sob:

When will it be launched on IHOST MATTER HUB?

Unfortunately, the latest update has ruined everything. As I understand it, the gentlemen from Sonoff are now working hard to find the bugs and fix it. They’re smart guys and I’m sure they’ll offer properly working software soon. It’s a shame that iHost doesn’t allow you to get back to stable software and that Sonoff doesn’t publish beta versions for a solid click through before the official release.

Hello! Which Google Nest do you have? Without a Nest (which is a Matter Controller) you won’t be able to control Matter devices in Google Home.

I was able to pair and control iHost using Matter in Google Home. I’m using a Google Nest Hub 2nd Gen and firmware version is 1.12.0:

Hi everyone,
if you have issues when using the Matter Bridge, try to remove all fabrics and reboot iHost, then try again.

Hello, can you reply with your iHost device ID? We’ll let the eWeLink team check it out further!

When will it be launched on IHOST MATTER HUB?

Hi,

I’m glad that there is progress on the matter topic.
Although same kind of problems as mentioned by other members.

Google home :

  • first mentions it found a matter enabled device - by adding I get “you need a google hub” - after continue => can’t reach device - make sure that your phone is connected to WiFi (of course it is).

home assistant:
falls back on scanning QR code by google home and tells “can’t reach device” (same as above).

Smartthings:
reports it found a device - then after scanning the QR "=> couldn’t add device - you need a hub connected to this device

Alexa:
your device needs a compatible echo device to work with alexa.

When looking at the product I thought all I needed was the ihost. But for the moment I don’t know how to get things running.

Hello!

To connect a Matter device or a Matter hub (such as iHost) to a platform, you need a Matter Controller (Google Nest Hub, Amazon Echos, SmartThings Hubs, Apple TVs). A Matter Controller is the device that will manage your entire Matter network from a specific platform and ensure that all comunication is done locally. Without a Matter Controller, you cannot pair a Matter device in a platform. Theres a lot of confusion regarding this because Google, Alexa, Apple and Samsung insists in using the wrong name for their “hubs”, they should be called “Controllers” as the standard defines and create this separation between controller and hub :frowning:

iHost on the other hand serves as a Matter Hub/Matter Bridge and its only capable of bridge non matter devices (such as Zigbee devices) to a Matter network, so its job is to “translate” whatever data it receives into something a Matter Controller can understand and manage.

Im my setup I have a bunch of Matter Controllers… Apple TV and HomePod for HomeKit, Google Nest Hub Gen 2 for Google Home, Echo Show for Alexa and SmartThings Station for Samsung. By having all those controllers I’m able to test Matter devices in several platforms. With iHost it works fine with all the platforms that I mentioned before, as long as I have a connected Matter Controller.

Home Assistant has its controller as an AddOn that you can install. It was pretty buggy in the initial releases and its still in beta, but works better now. Make sure you are running the latest version (5.0) of the AddOn and Home Assistant 2023.12.

Do I understand correctly?

If I want to connect to a Smartthing ,
I can use any Hub Matter (e.g. HomePad (2nd gen). Does it have to be a Hub from Samsung?

It has to be a Samsung SmartThings Hub in this case, if you want to connect to another platform, you need to have the Matter Controller of that platform as well

Ok. Thanks for the information.
I wonder if this will ever change.

Hi. I have one more question.
You have Smartthings station Hub Matter. Can the smartthings app on my phone control devices provided by ihost Bridge? Using the smartthings cloud.

Hello! Yes, if you connected iHost to the Smartthings app, you’ll be able to control the devices using smarthings cloud service

I’ve connected iHost and my Google Home account via Matter. All Zigbee devices (whether connected directly to the iHost or via my ZB Bridge Pro and the eWelink addon) showed in Google Home, with weird names and no room assignment.

I renamed the devices and assigned rooms to them all. Everything worked, then my iHost went through a power cycle and all my devices were re-added in Google Home (not duplicated) with all names and room assignments lost.

Will this happen every time my iHost reboots/power cycles? What if it loses network connection?
How can I stop this from being lost? It is too much to keep redoing anytime the iHost goes offline.

I had the same issue when I added all the devices to Apple Home via Matter Bridge. It is very tedious to rename them all over again whenever iHost reboots.
