Hi, here are the steps to use NSPanel Pro as a Home Assistant voice assistant:
Prerequisites:
SONOFF Dongle M running Home Assistant (any working HAOS environment is fine)
Install the Home Assistant App on NSPanel Pro via F-Droid
Configuration:
Install and start the Whisper add-on.
Go to the Voice Assistant settings and configure STT by selecting “faster-whisper”.
(If this is not selected, you will only be able to control devices through the text input dialog instead of voice commands.)
Install and start Piper.
Set TTS to “Wyoming Piper”.
(If this is not configured, NSPanel Pro will only return text responses and will not provide voice feedback for commands.)
On NSPanel Pro:
Apps → Companion App → Assist for Android
Set Home Assistant as the default Assistant, then enable the wake word.
After that, you can use voice commands directly on NSPanel Pro to control your devices.
Note:
Since NSPanel Pro is not a professional smart speaker device, the microphone pickup quality may not be as good as dedicated voice assistants.
I’ve also attached some screenshots of the setup process to help you find the correct settings pages.
Of course! It wasn’t designed for this purpose at all. If I can stand in front of the display and ask “what is the temperature in the bedroom” and I get an answer instead of swiping through cards, that is perfect.
Hi, You can check whether your current Home Assistant version supports this feature, or if any configuration file changes have blocked it. My guess is that this might be related to the Home Assistant version or configuration file, since this page is not affected by NSPanel Pro.
Could you please clarify if you mean that when the camera is in sleep mode, it cannot be woken up from NSPanel Pro? For example, are you referring to the wake-up button shown in the app screenshot below?
