Issues with SONOFF Zigbee Bridge Ultra and LIGHTEU/Miboxer Zigbee 3.0 Controllers
I’d like to report an issue that’s causing a lot of frustration. I recently purchased the new SONOFF Zigbee Bridge Ultra, but I found out it doesn’t support LIGHTEU® / Miboxer Zigbee 3.0 dimmer controllers for single-color LED strips (12V/24V).
With the previous model, the SONOFF ZB Bridge-P, I never had any issues: these controllers were easily recognized, worked flawlessly, and were seamlessly integrated into iHost. For those like me who use these solutions professionally and need to install multiple LED strips, these controllers were an essential and reliable alternative.
Can someone explain why the newer model, which is supposed to be an upgrade and costs more, doesn’t support them? It doesn’t make sense that a newer, theoretically more advanced product doesn’t at least maintain the same compatibility as its predecessor.
Is there a solution in sight or a firmware update planned to address this issue? It’s the least we could expect, considering how disappointing this new Bridge has been.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can provide insights or suggest a solution.
Can you explain the role of ZB Bridge-P in the previous configuration? Did you use two Zigbee controllers? Was the Miboxer connected to the iHost or to the Bridge-P? What did this look like?
It is not an upgrade. It’s a completely different device that serves similar purpose. It is not a further development of the ZB Bridge-P.
Well, it’s quite simple: in the past, I could use the ZB Bridge-P, which was perfect for straightforward setups like a single-floor apartment or store. The Miboxer was recognized as a dimmable bulb, fully integrated into the SONOFF ecosystem, both on the web interface and the app.
The new model, the Zigbee Bridge Ultra, introduces only one truly useful feature compared to the old one: LAN connectivity. This makes it ideal for managing larger buildings, like the 5-floor structure I’m working with. Unfortunately, it doesn’t support Miboxer devices. Honestly, instead of adding features like a meat thermometer, they could have spent more time perfecting this essential functionality.
SONOFF lacks a significant range of specific products, often forcing us to rely on third-party brands. Given this situation, I expect SONOFF to focus on making their ecosystem (which I find excellent for 90% of use cases) as compatible as possible with other solutions.
I recommend iHost for clients who want simple on-site programming that they won’t need to touch again. It’s quick and efficient. However, because there are still issues, I never pair devices directly in iHost. Doing so risks making the devices disappear from the app, complicating the setup unnecessarily. That’s why I always connect them via Docker, which is far more reliable.
I understand that the Zigbee Bridge Ultra is a different device, but it’s still called a “Zigbee Bridge,” and it’s supposed to replace the older models. If you want to highlight the added Matter support, fine—but at the very least, the new product should match the compatibility of its predecessors, if not improve upon it.
I don’t understand, are you seriously asking if I know what Docker is? That’s like me asking if you know what a PC is. If your intention is to troll this post, it’s pretty obvious.
Anyway, I’ll assume you’re just uninformed. The iHost platform by eWeLink, as part of its operating system, includes a section where third-party add-ons can be uploaded and managed. You can find more detailed information on the official eWeLink website here: eWeLink CUBE Add-on - eWeLink.
So you’re replying to a post without saying anything interesting, let alone constructive, just to write completely off-topic and essentially useless things. What’s the point of all this?
i got same issue , what i found that its only compatible with devices that compatible with ewelink , other than that I couldn’t pair any device , hope someday they will add more support for it as they did with ihost
I had the same issue as well, and I agree—it’s frustrating that the compatibility is so limited to eWeLink-supported devices. With the older ZB Bridge-P, I could pair Miboxer Zigbee 3.0 dimmer controllers without any issues, even though they’re not officially part of the eWeLink ecosystem.
The new Zigbee Bridge Ultra is supposed to be an upgrade, especially with the LAN connectivity feature, which is crucial for larger setups (e.g., multi-floor buildings). However, the lack of compatibility with non-eWeLink devices like Miboxer makes it a downgrade in some ways.
I also hope they expand support through future firmware updates, especially considering how they improved iHost over time. Until then, the limitations are quite disappointing for those of us who rely on third-party devices for professional installations.
i think we should open voting to add support for ZBBridge-U to be able to pair third party zigbee devices the same that ihost support , lets see if any of ewelink team can help us in this such case to get more votes and have response
its a powerful device no doubt and i like it shows zigbee devices at ewelink app and at ihost via (sync) plus matterbridge , i hope sonoff add more support to it
I agree with you, it’s a great product that currently only has some limitations in terms of software and firmware. However, if well-developed, it could truly outperform the competition, which is currently filled with less reliable devices
