Configure static IP

Hi, I need to configure my Sonoff devices with static IP, but there is no menu or way to enter the configuration via web as Shelly does it is a joy to access to put the IP you want on your devices.

I have many and it is chaos.

Is there any way to access to use a static IP?

Thank.

was there ever a solution to this. I don’t want to reserve the IPs in DHCP as I don’t find that 100% reliable!!!

There aren’t. Most Sonoff devices operate based on DHCP only.
If you set a static IP in the router’s DHCP, it will work 100%.
I have been using static IP in DHCP for many years… There is no question of unreliability here unless you have a very strange router.

OK cheers

This is not the answer you expected, but there is nothing more I can advise you. Sonoff uses DHCP and it is not possible to change it unless you upload a different Firmware, but then it has little to do with Sonoff.

If you have the opportunity, maybe consider OpenWRT, where DHCP works reliably.

This is something that SonOff needs to fix or add.

For those of us who have a complete network it is best to have everything under control and use static IPs as you can do in Shelly.

Also being able to have web access directly to the device.

It’s something that has existed in a library for ESPs since before there was all this cheap setup.

I used to create them with an ESP and I could enter via web and configure it or use Souliss.

Now it is no longer worth it for the price of a sonoff to create you a PCB.

But they should allow web access or the option to change IP.

I just replied to your message to comment.

Thank you.

Hmm
Sounds sensible but…

I doubt Sonoff plans to change anything in this matter.
Relying on DHCP is simply the simplest from a general point of view for the average client.

DHCP also has the ability to operate based on static IP addresses. I’ve been using it for three decades…
DHCP does not only mean dynamically assigned IPs, you can block them per MAC and there will never be a problem here.
I have networks built this way with 900 machines at work and it works without any problems…

Connect directly to the device? Do you mean connecting to the sensor directly? Most sonoff devices will not respond to you. You can try to get to them by knowing a specific IP, but you won’t be able to do much here. You would need to set your devices to DIY mode.

Personally, I don’t really see a problem with using DHCP and static IP assignment per MAC. It works exactly the same as if you manually entered the network data on the device.

I use a translator, you did not understand me.

It is only the possibility of using static IP and web access to the device to configure it without the app.

It gives you more possibilities.

I am an installer of other systems more pro these Sonoff Shelly, I only use it for friends and for “chorradas” or diy.

It is not the same reserved static IP than real static IP.

I use vlan I have a 42U Rack eh the living room for my servers and everything is well organized except the devices I use sonoff.

Shelly’s and other brands if possible and I have a range of more options that are missing in sonoff.

It is true that it is the best way for the standard user, adding the static IP option does not affect that user is one more option that you use it or not.

For example almost everyone or everyone uses the wizards in dhcp I have the Alexa with fixed IP and yes, if you can is hidden the option is done at the beginning of the configuration and gives me a control in my internal networks than using dhcp, I only use for family mobiles those at home are static IP.

Everyone will like it or it will be easier as it is.

But Shelly has both options including web access and does not disturb the normal user and I have that possibility.

Greetings, it was just a comment I use other systems.

I fix my Sonoff static IP’s in the router UI !

hey, there’s no such option at the moment.

And it is risky to use static IP from the client side; if there’s an IP conflict, you will lose access to it and cause more trouble.
