Tuya App Support

Hello,

Is there any Tuya app support for iHost ? Such as login with Tuya credentials to load available devices and control them with iHost ?

There isn’t any.

In theory, it would be possible to do it.

It would be enough to create an addon like LoclTuya works.

However, it would require a developer to embrace the project, etc.

In fact, several addons that currently exist in HA could be a starting point for addons for iHost.

I believe that there is a lack of developers interested in the platform.

I feel that the forum staff is making an extra effort to make the community grow and be healthy.

I support this.

If there is an interested developer, I am here to help with the necessary tests.

However, remember that the addon for iHost to get things from Tuya would be completely cloud-based since there is no LAN mode in Tuya.

We welcome community add-ons for any brands using the OpenAPI as long as they obey local legislation.

For now, if you are a heavy Tuya user and want to port these devices to eWeLink. Using a Matter Bridge would be a workaround as they tend to use modified clusters and standards (for instance, I’ve noticed a recent case on the forum where a device uses presence instead of occupancy by the official Zigbee cluster standard).

For Zigbee, we also keep expanding our capability of Zigbee2CUBE so more Tuya Zigbee devices would be better supported locally without an extra hub.

I completely agree with you.

That would be the easiest solution.

Buy a bridge from Tuya that converts ZigBee devices to Matter.

However, I believe that many users want the Wi-Fi devices they have today to interact completely with their local automations, all in one place.

One way to do this would be to use Home Assinstant as a HUB where everything reaches it. The iHost could be the ZigBee HUB since it is compatible with some devices from other brands and if the user is already a user of Sonoff products, they would take advantage of taking things via LAN to there. They could use the Matter bridge to take things from the iHost to HA, but the HA docker does not have Matter. They would have to use another way. HomeBridge would be a good solution, but there are some problems that are still being solved.

Another solution would be to use NODE-RED as the default hub for devices, there is integration with Tuya, etc.

However, a good and cool solution would be an addon that could add Wi-Fi products compatible with iHost, so that the user could place their integrations in iHost.

I really don’t know the technical difficulties involved in making this happen, but I believe it is possible.

I also believe that an addon for EspHome is possible, and I also believe that the tasmota addon could be improved.

It would be interesting to have an addon that could control a SAMSUNG TV with Tizen or an LG TV with WebOS.

I believe that this would enrich the system and give more possibilities for products from other brands to enter the Cube.

Regarding legislation, I don’t think any addon would break them unless someone copies someone else’s source code or something like that.

However, I don’t believe that is the case.

I really like the product and I believe in its future.

I believe it can grow.

When some barriers are broken.

Today, those who use iHost and want to use Home Assistant are stuck with alternative ways to export everything they have in iHost to Home Assistant.

If there were an Addon in iHost that would transfer everything that is paired in iHost to Home Assistant.

iHost could become the gateway to this system.

Because the person wouldn’t need to go after a Zigbee HUB or a mini PC to run Home Assistant, iHost would handle all of that.

If your idea is to increase the compatibility of Zigbee2Cube to more devices, this would be a differentiator from the Zigbee HUB that is already on the market. A HUB that could run the DOCKER version of HOME ASSINSTANT and still export all of its entities to HOME ASSINSTANT.

As a user, I would think it was a dream come true.
A ZIGBEE HUB that really solved my problems once and for all.
I can connect my devices and put them in HOME ASSISTANT, which I can also access from outside my house and do more complicated automations, etc., all with incredible ease.

I think that would be incredible.
It would even eliminate the need for other Add-ons if the user wants to use HA because you could incorporate all devices from other brands that are WIFI or etc.

Could you create a new post under the feature request sub-category for the two integrations in CUBE?

Thanks for your support! However, as a commercial project, we may face limitations when building third-party integrations compared to community-supported ones. We will do our best to align with our users’ needs and hopefully, Matter can, more or less, help clear the path for interpretations with other brands in addition to Zigbee.

I hope Matter works out.
Especially if there are plans for iHost to be a Matter router, that would already be half the battle.

Yes, I understand the limitations on your side. I know that you can’t just go around doing whatever you want.

However, I understand that the community needs to come together to be able to do what you can’t do.

The iHost/Cube community is new and still has a lot to evolve and learn.

I only mentioned things that the community itself could do to make its own life easier.

Maybe users reading this post will be inspired to create addons via Docker to run on iHost; that would be magical.

You already provide an API and documentation.

The only thing missing is the interest of the community’s DEVs for this.
