The calm before the storm?

Why June? What’s wrong about August or November?
I reckon gunpowder or paper must have been invented by some other kind of Chinese. Because the eWeLink people would still be stuck in the Stone Age, promising their fellow tribesmen future technological wonders. The Great Wall would never have been built, or at most they would have made it out of drywall.

Don’t know, don’t care at this point. Hadn’t checked the forum before buying ihost, my bad.

If nothing positive happens on the firmware front as promised by ward I’m leaving Sonoff, ewelink, ihost cube thing for good and want nothing to do with the brand. $100 down the drain, ok crap happens, move on. My house is fully wired for KNX/Loxone anyway. Maybe that’s the way to go for me. Always thought that loxone is an expensive wankery, now I’m ready to accept that I was wrong though.

I wish the people behind ihost all the best, I really do, but the firmware just doesn’t deliver at this point.

I fear that we will see a mqtt2cube not limited to Tasmota and nothing more. Maybe a direct integration of mqtt under cube… Let’s not create too many expectations about the support of appliances not in the ultra-limited eWelink catalogue.

LOL

We will see, one week has left till the end of May. Duh. My expectations are low, so much so I’m looking for a replacement. Aqara M3 is a half-baked cookie too, AFAIK, SmartThings is a meh, and the rest of the bunch is a joke :person_shrugging:
HA or mind-numbingly expensive “established” duo mentioned above. Not much else to choose from.

I would rather buy a raspberry pi 4 or 5 and a ZigBee USB key and install home assistant. So that once you will become tired you can use the raspberry pi for something else.

I wonder if anyone is already testing the future update? I suspect we will be beta testers again.

A month ago, Teki Wilson wrote that sonoff will publish the ihost roadmap on its website. But now he has deleted his comment  I guess there won’t be a storm :slightly_smiling_face:

@Teki Can you elaborate on that?

@Teki Please, do elaborate. Clarify how soon is “soon”.

OIP

You are all terribly impatient. It will be there when it will be.
As we know, they are not there for us, we are there for them.

Besides, they said January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, November, December… but they didn’t say 2024

The follow-up updates of ihost will focus on compatibility with more devices, enhanced scene capabilities, cloud access, and matter support. Of course, addons will also continue to be maintained.

Wonderful, wonderful… but how does this relate to the question?
And what of the storm will eventually be? Anything or just winds in the pillows?

Team sonoff and ewelink now have a new strategy. The less they say, the less they have to do. And the promised two years of support for ihost will end quickly.

We are constantly tuned in to the sounds of this storm foretold.

is it possible to leak some details of the incoming storm ?

This requires a bit of rain dancing. Contact Floating Log to do it properly.
