I have installed a Sonoff S-Mate 2 as a subdevice of a Sonoff Mini R4. The device is correctly detected and works through the eWeLink app and Alexa. However, it does not appear among the available devices on iHost.
The eWeLink-Remote Control feature is enabled on iHost, and I have verified that it is working correctly because my Sonoff R5, which is configured the same way as the S-Mate 2, appears and functions properly on iHost.
Configuration Details:
iHost: eWeLink-Remote Control enabled
Sonoff Mini R4 with eWeLink-Remote Control enabled
Sonoff S-Mate 2 added as a subdevice of Mini R4
Sonoff R5 configured the same way as S-Mate 2 (but visible on iHost)
Everything updated to the latest available firmware
Questions:
Is the Sonoff S-Mate 2 officially supported on iHost?
Are there any specific settings or steps required to make it visible on iHost?
Has anyone else encountered this issue and found a solution?
No… since in this way it doesn’t show up in the mobile app and in Alexa. Also ihost is too distant from the s-mate 2. Why doesn’t it work like R5? Basically it is the same device without buttons…
After iHost is updated to V1.11.0, it supports adding eWeLink-Remote sub-device: R5 / S-MATE / S-MATE2.
The principle of iHost’s eWeLink-Remote Control is different from that of eWeLink-Remote Control in App. It relies on iHost’s LAN control capability for local control.
Check the differences between iHost’s eWeLink-Remote Control and App eWeLink-Remote Control via the chart below:
Thanks bit you didn’t answer my question. My R5s are connected to mini R4 and they show under ihost (and also mobile app and alexa).
If I do the same with my smate 2 the show only under mobile app and alexa but not under ihost. Why? They are basically the same device and the should behave in the same way.
All your sonoff devices synced to iHost are by the smart-home add-on.
And smart-home add-on itself didn’t support synced device connected to mini R4.
So you won’t see any device above shows in iHost after you add it to eWeLink app.
That’s not true and I’m surprised that an official developer makes such statements.
My Sonoff R5 remotes are linked to a Mini R4 and show under my iHost. Look at Telecomando 1 e Telecomando 2 which are under Cucina and shows under iHost.
So I’m waiting for a plausible answer because this is effectively a bug.
Yes. You can see it from the attached screenshots. The two R5 are linked to Mini R4 called Cucina. And they show under iHost and under Android App. My S-Mate 2 is linked to Corridoio and it shows only under Android App.
I don’t know why your R5 added to MINIR4 is not showing up in IHOST. However, I have extensively demonstrated that in my scenario, this is exactly how it works.
As for your second question, I’d suggest moderating your language. Stubbornness is relative—perhaps persistence in getting clear answers is a more fitting term.
Regarding pairing s-mar2 with IHOST, I have already done so successfully. However, it does not appear under Alexa (you can read another post of mine that I cannot link my IHOST to Alexa via Matter), preventing me from activating certain scenarios that are useful to me.
Honestly, I’m frustrated with IHOST. After years of beta testing, it does maybe half of what was promised. Too bad it was a paid product.
so I cannot test this solution. I would like so much to get it working since right now I cannot use my zigbee devices with Alexa.
On the other side I am able to link my s-mate 2 to iHost (and so I cannot see it under Alexa) and to Mini R4 (and so I cannot see it under iHost).
BTW I discovered why my R5s behaved this way. They are linked both with ihost and mini r4. I have done the same also with my s mate 2 and now it shows both in the web app and under ihost. Very very strange.
Lets try to find out how to solve my issue with Alexa.
On some Alexa forum I found your problem with pairing matter devices.
If you have an Android phone, first add ihost to Google Home.
Then in google home share ihost matter bridge For Alexa
you don’t have to have google matter hub. just an android phone and the google home app. normally you can add, only the devices will be offline. but you can share them to another platform and they will work.
