NSPanel Pro v4.3.3 – Camera Live View Disconnects Every 30 Minutes (SONOFF S-Cam Gen2)

I am currently using NSPanel Pro firmware version 4.3.3 (Device ID: 1001e388f4).

The issue I am about to describe has been ongoing for several months. I reported this problem multiple times via the mobile application months ago, but unfortunately I did not receive any clear or effective response. Support feedback was also quite delayed, which made the process more difficult.

Yesterday, after months, I finally received a reply via email regarding this issue, and only then was a solution partially clarified. After that, I discovered this forum and wanted to share my experience here in detail.

Based on the screenshots I attached and the video recording I made to clearly demonstrate the issue:
I have two SONOFF S-Cam Gen2 Smart Cameras added to my system. Whether I view them on the NSPanel Pro screen or via the web interface, the result is the same — the live camera stream disconnects every 30 minutes.

I personally tested this behavior nearly 10 times using a stopwatch, and it is consistently reproducible. When the disconnection occurs, the only way to restore the camera feed is to manually touch the screen and refresh the page. Having to do this every 30 minutes is, frankly, quite strange and inconvenient.

Months ago, I did not experience this issue at all. It only started appearing after recent firmware updates.

Previously, the support team asked me to perform several checks, mainly related to network settings, which I completed and reported back. However, after providing my feedback, I did not receive any further response.

My question is:
How can we resolve this issue permanently?
Is this a known firmware-related timeout or session issue introduced with recent updates?

Thank you in advance for your support and efforts.
Best regards.

All right, I will confirm with my colleagues and provide you with an answer tomorrow. Additionally, may I ask if you have used the ewelink app to play the feed, and whether the same issue occurs there?

Yes, I experience the same issue when I follow it on both the mobile app and the web. Thank you also for the information.

I have confirmed with my colleagues that the default playback duration for the camera feed on the NSPanel Pro is 30 minutes. This is based on the consideration that the NSPanel Pro is often stationary, and users might forget to exit the page or turn off the screen, leading to continuous streaming.

If your use case requires a different duration, could you please describe your specific scenario in detail? Is it for security monitoring or another purpose?

Regarding the ewelink app, it should allow continuous playback (considering it’s less likely for users to stay on the camera feed page for extended periods on their phones). If you encounter the same issue in the app, please submit the app logs promptly after the problem occurs (via App → Profile → Feedback & Help → Feedback , check the log submission option). I will work on identifying the cause ASAP.

NSPP120 speaker still not exposed as a target in HA. Please do something.

Hi, we are currently implementing this feature. It is expected that the speaker and microphone functionality will be synchronized with Home Assistant in the 4.4.0 version, scheduled for release in February. Thank you for your patience.

As a response to the issue I mentioned, when I reported this problem earlier via the app, I didn’t receive such a logical explanation. Instead, I was told that there might be an issue with my internet infrastructure :slightly_smiling_face:
So I’m actually glad to hear this clarification directly from you :slightly_smiling_face:

Coming to my actual use case: since I spend most of my time at home working on my computer, I constantly monitor our garden gate via the NSPanel Pro. Honestly, when I sit for hours, having to press the refresh button every 30 minutes becomes a bit frustrating, as my hand keeps going to it automatically.

If there is any possibility to extend this duration, I would really appreciate it.
Thank you in advance for the team’s attention and support

Great!

I’ve just submitted the feedback I mentioned earlier, just so you know, Milk

Doesn’t happen that you release 4.4.0 then you leave a couple of weeks to spend Chinese new year’s holidays?

I’m happy for you however in that case, but at that point better to pospone 4.4.0 release, am I right?

Yes, there are two weeks left until the Chinese New Year, and we will have a holiday.
However, version 4.4.0 will be completed and released before this holiday, so it shouldn’t keep you and other users waiting too long.

Mmm, I’m scared about finding big issues with release 4.4.0 and having no one working on it, I think I’ll pospone 4.4.0 installation after you come back from holidays

I am certain they have made enough tests to mitigate “major” issues.

The latest update also broke RTSP camera functionality, again:

  • Selecting an aspect ratio doesn’t change anything except image size
  • The last used aspect ratio isn’t remembered
  • Every 2-3 times I launch the camera, I only see a black screen, even with low-quality streams

Everything was fine in version 4.1. Please fix this and stop breaking old features with every new update
