I would like to know the reason that I am seeing this with Matter pairing on the iHost.
The device is a simple door/window contact sensor by IKEA, Matter over Thread.
It is paired initially to an Alexa Echo which is Matter, but not Thread. It uses a Thread Border Router on an Eero router, although it could use equally my Smartthings, Moes or Apple Homepod hubs which are all TBR.
I have the same iHost matter as you. They couldn’t figure out the errors for more than 5 months. Try restarting and immediately after restarting start pairing iHost. If it connects, then obviously the will be inaccessible.
I’ve tried after rebooting both the iHost and the Echo but to no avail.
What I would like to know is if this is fundamental limitation on the iHost that can only be overcome by a “future” iHost with Thread radio or if firmware update will solve this.
As I understand it a Matter controller, like the iHost, even if it is without Thread, can see and control a Thread device as long as everything is on the same LAN, there is at least one active Thread Border Router, and all devices are on the same Matter fabric.
When it comes to MATTER devices, iHost only supports plugs and light bulbs.
No MATTER devices, such as motion/occupancy sensors, smoke detectors, or blinds, are supported. And it’s unlikely anything will change in this regard this year.
I would have canceled Matter in iHost when it was still working for me, but not all devices worked through Matter even though they were supposed to work according to the list of compatible devices.
You are right, with a couple of IKEA Thread bulbs Alexa joined the Eero Thread Border Router and then this was able to share them by Matter to the iHost. I was imagining that the iHost would have support for more devices for Matter by this stage - the Matter Beta is from October 2024..
@yonghuiWang When will we seeing updates on device compatibilty for Matter pairing on the iHost? Matter is starting to become more mainstream now and only having bulbs and plugs is very limiting.

I hope the Matter Hub and Matter Bridge Upgrade: Matter 1.5+ & More Device Types will be first in line.
