M5/R5 style Zigbee scene controller

Hi!
I love the look of the NSpanel / M5 / R5 products… however, I’m really after a hardwired scene controller, which doesn’t need to be paired to a product that has to use the cloud to work.
Ideally what I’d like to see is an R5 style scene controller, which can simply connect to my Zigbee network… then it can be used directly in home assistant.
Any chance!?

But the M5 products do not have a ZigBee version. And the R5 uses a proprietary eWelink protocol. They are not ZigBee.

With iHost you could pair the R5 and not depend on the cloud.

It isn’t a Zigbee device unfortunately… It would be great if it was Zigbee and hard wired!!

iHost works locally even though it is not ZigBee.

What do you have on mind?

What I meant was that the R5 works locally on the iHost without depending on the cloud.

That’s what I meant.

Now that I’ve read the topic again, I understand that he was requesting a new product.

A Zigbee version of the R5.

I’m sorry!

I agree with my friend that there could be switches, among others, but Zigbee.

Nowadays, Sonoff has a very good and beautiful portfolio of switches, but they are only Wi-Fi.

I believe they could have Zigbee as well.

A scene control like the R5, but Zigbee, would also be very welcome.

I couldn’t agree more

the topic of the need for a zigbee scene control has been raised many times. but Sonoff is probably not interested in producing such a device. an example of a device from MOES.

It’s all about aesthetic consistency. Sonoff has a consistent design.

this is a new product.

joke

A good one

I had on mind both panels and M5. They are the same “optical flavour” as R5. I’d prefer to stay this way. Besides, the design is really nice.

Actually, I’ve seen some 3D print wall-mount frames for such switches. :see_no_evil:

It’s a shame they won’t consider doing a zigbee scene switch in the same style… I’ve their zigbee sensors and also bought 4 NSpanelPro so far… but without there being a matching scene controller which doesn’t rely on clouds and proprietary communications, I’ll not be expanding my Sonoff gear any further… shame as it would have been several thoursand GBP worth of equipment.
I’ll search for something else which has a good design instead.

Some products have that eWeLink Remote functionality, but I don’t know if all the products in your list have it. I know my switch has it as I saw it in the manual. Pretty sure I saw it listed on a firmware update for the iHost so I guess it is on the NS Panel Pro too. Don’t know how you find a list of products that can use their private protocol.

The only bad thing is the distance it accepts.
It’s really bad. If you have a lot of walls!

In the case of iHost using the private protocol.

Get rid of some :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I’ve read somewhere it is similar to Bluetooth but haven’t read into it. BT can mesh. EWeLink Remote should also.

Indeed, eWeLink Remote is a BLE implementation. However, there is a long way to go for BLE Mesh. Mainly because Bluetooth Mesh specification assumes the existence of two mandatory infrastructure elements: a configuration server and a health server. Extending eWeLink Remote in this direction is pointless. Rather an R5 version with Zigbee or Thread Matter seems desirable.
My impression is that eWeLink phases out the project with Remote. The introduction of it was probably not fully thought through.

Such a Zigbee scene switch works in private clusters for single press, double press, and long press), which means that if you add the devices to other Zigbee hubs, it will not behave as full features.

That’s why we do not launch such a device yet. However, we will take it into account for our product development plan.
