Ihost eWeLink CUBE - slow data transfer from devices to iHost - each update make it worse!

The situation with how iHost get the data from connected devices is now beyond parody !!!

I have iHost RV1126 DDR4 4GB

eWeLink CUBE Version - 2.5.1

eWeLink Smart Home app in iHost docker - 2.5.2

I pay Sonoff Advanced Plan !!!

Now the device - THR316D with latest firmware 1.3.0

THR316D is working as temperature controller and execution device for very long time in this config.

But recent updates for iHost causing huge problem with passing data from eWeLink cloud to iHost.

I can’t remember that kind of problems earlier… so it is last few recent updates for iHost which are causing problems !!!

Now the exact situation:

THR316D - is reading temp from it own temp sensor and is sending data to iHost via eWeLink cloud app in iHost docker.

In the past before recent updates temp changed were updated on iHost in almost real time.

So the scenes on iHost could turn on heating element at exact temp as requested.

Now it is not working as THR316D temp value are not being send in real time to iHost !!!

If temp value is dropping slowly then there is a HUGE delay with sending that new real value to iHost !!!

Interesting thing is that if I will open Android app eWeLink Smart home then temp data from THR316D will be updated on iHost immediately.

So opening eWeLink Smart home app on Android phone is causing that data from THR316D are being send to iHost immediately.

This is not they way that it should work !!!

Simple example:

iHost scene

Turn on heating element connected to THR316D when temp will go down to 20.3C
Turn off heating element connected to THR316D when temp will go up to 20.8C

THR316D is temp measuring device and execution device.
iHost should read temp values in real time and turn on or off THR316D

It was working for very long time with huge precision.

But now as data transfer from THR316D to iHost is slow it works like that now

Temp goes up to over 21C before iHost will get temp value. Then will turn off heating element.
Then should wait until temp will drop to 20.3C to turn it back on… but because iHost is not updated in real time with temp value from THR316D then temp drops to 19.8C or even lower.

This is how this Sonoff Smart Home system is working now !!!

I did check it how it was working today and it is like I described above.

But now PURE MAGIC - if at any moment I will open eWeLink app on Android phone… then iHost gets temp update from THR316D and then scenes are triggered at correct real time temp values.

So Sonoff and eWeLink people - please fixt this ASAP !!!

Because I spent tons of money on your equipment and I pay Advanced plan but in return I got system which is not working like Smart home.

To Admins of this forum - I was always friendly towards Sonoff and eWeLink people.

But sometimes enough is enough.

I just did simple experiment which is showing how much Sonoff system is broken after recent updates.

Situation like described above where internet is connected and THR316D need many minutes to send temperature data to iHost even if change is big like 0.5C or more.

Now the experiment:

I left router working… but turned cable modem off. NO INTERNET and NO eWeLink CLOUD !!!

So whole local network was working fine… but Internet access was disabled by turning cable modem off.

Now surprise !!!

THR316D is sending temperature values to iHost every few SECONDS !!!

So LAN MODE devices are working better in this system when internet is OFF than when internet s ON

Very weird !!!

So maybe Sonoff would give me a choice to decide how do I want send data between THR316D and iHost?

I would prefer locally as temp is being send every few seconds or at least 15 seconds max.

Which with current broken Sonoff software can take 20 - 30 minutes in worse case scenario when using cloud.

Unfortunately Sonoff devices are all proving to be poorly supported. I regret not having done everything with Tuya.

As soon as I have the time and desire I will try to convert iHost to Home Assistant to see if I can fix it without spending more money.

Someone is flagging my posts where I criticise Sonoff as impropriate now.

So I spent tons of money on equipment from Sonoff but I’m not allowed to criticise them.

Dear Sonoff - please improve your firmware and software. Solve all the problems…

and I will only say positive things !!!

I paid for the equipment and I pay Advanced Plan - but things are not working as they should.

So please fix things instead of flagging my posts as inpropriate.

There is “simple” solution to this problem.

Install eWeLink app on some spare Android phone or tablet. It need to have Android 8 or higher.

Then keep the app opened whole time 24/7 and that problem with slow and irregular transfer between devices and iHost is solved.

So… yes this is solution… if someone want to have eWeLink app panel on the wall anyway. Then it is 2 in 1 solution.

But in my case I have multiple NS Panel Pro installed.

So I do not need another android device on the wall or anywhere else to keep data flow in proper way.

I will repeat myself again… I can’t remember that problem slow and inconsistent data flow between WiFi (LAN MODE) Sonoff devices and iHost in the past.

It started recently after last few iHost updates.

The whole problem started from NS Panel Pro… where that panel got actual temp data with delay and in inconsistent way.

It was also that time when NS Panel Pro started causing problems with being frozen or self resetting itself.

But now the problem with inconsistent data flow between Sonoff WiFi (LAN MODE) devices is also affecting iHost.

Sorry about the delay.
This bug is a known one.
We are fixing it at the moment but might take some time.
We’ll release it ASAP as the fix completed.

Thanks for answer.

I created 3 scenarios at home

1 - everything configured and connected as normal - result inconsistent transfer of data to iHost

2 - like above but eWeLink app on Android working 24/7 - then the data to iHost goes every minute

3 - everything like in example 1 but with one difference. The internet is cut off from home but router is working - this results with real time data flow to iHost. Every few seconds or max 15-20 seconds.

Can you recreate this 3 scenarios in your environment?

BTW… first device which was affected with this problem was NS Panel Pro. Then recently (weeks or months) iHost.

Hope that my information will help solve the problem.

Hi, JMZ.
We’ve released smart-home add-on 2.5.5.
It fixed the problem mentioned above.
Please upgrade to see if it works for you.

Hi @SuiKa

thanks for info.

I updated it yesterday but didn’t know that this particular update was the problem solution.
So yesterday I was keeping my Android TV with eWeLink app ON.

But today when I saw your message… I turned it off.

After 5-10 minutes of work it looks like it is OK.
THR316D is sending temp data to iHost a few times per minute.

But this update didn’t solved the problem for NSPanel Pro. It still didn’t display data in “real” time.
For NSPanel Pro running eWeLink app is still solution to see real time temp values.

PS.

Now just please give me option to use Sonoff ZigBee Bridge Ultra as sound device in scenes on iHost… then you will make me very happy Sonoff/eWeLink user.

What’s your scenario with NSPanel Pro?
We’re not the dev of NSPanel Pro, but we can pass on the message to them.

Hi… thanks for answer.

The scenario as described above.

iHost see temp values in real time. NS Panel pro lags behind to show it.

Also is important to tell that NS Panel Pro was first with this problem. Then the problem was on iHost.

Now problem is solved for iHost but not for NS Panel Pro.

So if I want to see temp values in real time on NS Panel Pro I need to keep eWeLink app on Android running whole time.

Just checked with the nspanle pro dev team.
It’s a known issue and will be fixed.
But the timing of the release is not clear now.

Thanks again for answer.

Hope they will fix it soon.

I have one more question for you.

When I will be able to use Sonoff ZigBee Bridge Ultra as sound device in scenes on iHost?

For now I can only use iHost as sound device in scenes. But I need use Sonoff ZigBee Bridge Ultra.

It’s already considered as a feature for new version.
But still have something else to do, so it won’t released in recent version.

Thanks for answer.

It would be great to do this…

Many of us may have more than one ZigBee Ultra and I use it as door bell sound device. Then I can hear it in whole house.

I also made waterproof Sonoff ZigBee smart switch for this.

So for now I have to use cloud… but would like to move the last 4 scenes to iHost.

Please let me know when can we expect it done?
