How to clear device logs

Hi All!

I can’t seem to find a way to delete device logs. Can someone help me?

Unfortunately, there’s no simple way to do this.
If my memory serves me right, there used to be a button to delete the log. In the latest version of the App, it remains only for virtual devices.

@MichaelLearnsToCode Let’s hope the dev team reads this and restores it, because it’s needed.

Why would you want to delete device logs? These logs will be automatically deleted after 1 or 2 months (I need to confirm the exact duration with my colleague).

On the iHost because they are only protected by a password and not 2FA/MFA without encryption so someone with physical access could l probably brute force access to them reasonably easy or use a bug in the Linux Kernel to access them.

Of course, we can consider the need and purpose of deleting logs. We can wonder why, at some stage in the development of the eWeLink App, the option to delete was removed for physical devices and left only for virtual ones. However, I propose simply restoring it, because—as we can see—at least one user needs it. Whoever wants to, will use it. Others will ignore it :slight_smile:

Because we want see only the new logs with getting distracted with old ones else we have to look at dates and times to find the new ones. Especially useful when trouble shooting and looking for new alarms etc.

Thank you for your support and feedback, after I confirmed, the button to clear logs is only implemented on some devices(e.g. SNZB-01P/03P/04P/05P, Virtual devices), not all, they haven’t changed since the old App version.

You’re right! Memory can be a slippery beast. It’s been ages since I last used that option. Sorry for the confusion!
Setting aside the holes in my memory, is there anything that would actually prevent all devices from having a “delete log entries on demand” feature? Our friend @francisjohn could really use it, and I wouldn’t mind either. So… can this contraption be cobbled together? Somehow? :slight_smile:

Can you provide me with the deviceid of your device that doesn’t have a Clear logs button? It will take a bit of time to implement this feature, we can evaluate the process based on your device so that the development team can support it in subsequent releases!
