Critical Privacy Concern – NSPanel PRO 120 Firmware 4.4.0

I recently updated my NSPanel 120 to firmware version 4.4.0. The device is configured to use the Home Assistant app as the primary home application.

While testing the device today, I discovered what appears to be a serious privacy issue. An always-active phone call–like interface appears on the panel without any user interaction. I did not initiate any call from the device or from the Home Assistant app, yet the interface opens automatically and displays what looks like an ongoing call.

This behavior is extremely concerning, as it suggests that the device may be establishing an unsolicited communication session. I am unable to determine who or what the call is connected to, and there is no clear indication of its origin.

Please clarify:

  • What service or process is responsible for triggering this call interface?

  • Is this expected behavior in firmware 4.4.0?

  • Does the device initiate any background call sessions by default?

  • Is this a known firmware issue?

Given the potential privacy implications, I would appreciate an urgent explanation and guidance on how to disable or resolve this behavior.

I look forward to your prompt response.

Sorry, it’s currently the Chinese Spring Festival holiday. We have been on holiday since February 12 and didn’t see your message.

We will never let the device establish any communication session without your permission—please rest assured about this!

The screen you recorded in your video is the interface of the calling app. I will contact our developers to confirm this issue right away.

Hi, I was able to reproduce the issue you encountered. This is because there was a previous call record, causing the NSPanelPro app to remain on that page (this is an issue, and we will optimize it in the next version). Please rest assured that this is just a page display issue and does not involve ongoing calls or privacy leaks. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this has caused you!

Hi @Milk , thanks for investigating on this issue. That is great news to hear ! That must likely been the cause on my issue. To get rid of the issue i had to factory reset the nspanel pro. But sometimes when accessing multitasking the last screenshot of the home screen app (nspanel in my case) is not updating. Probably case closed on my report on this issue. Please investigate and fix it. I will file other bugs i found in the relevant threads on this forum. Thanks again !
