I bought this camera last month. I have been trying it since I bought it, but this model has the most problematic software among the Sonoff products I have used. It seems like it was rushed to the market before the camera software was completely finished.
The only good thing is that the human detection works perfectly.
Software problems.
The biggest problem is that when I open the ewelink application, if I press the camera play button and watch, the phone’s sound goes away. The phone ringtone and media sounds come from the handset instead of the speaker. When someone calls me, I don’t hear the call because the sound comes from the handset.
The solution is to close the ewelink program. But sometimes I turn on the camera and watch the environment, and when I forget to close the program, I miss all the calls.
The camera alarm only works in 24-hour mode. When I select a time range, the alarm doesn’t work. It’s a big security risk. For example, I want the alarm to work only between 23:00 - 07:00, but the alarm doesn’t activate.
When the camera alarm is on in 24-hour mode, scenarios that require both conditions do not work.
For example, when the camera detects a person and the door is open, turn on the lamp. This scenario does not work when the camera alarm is on, but it works when the alarm is off.
When the camera alarm is on, only single-condition scenarios work. For example, when the camera detects a person, turn on the lamp.
I inserted an SD card into the camera. However, on the history view screen, the video time and the timeline do not match. When I select the option to record only the human detection event, the timeline shifts, so I cannot match the yellow areas. Therefore, I have to use 24-hour recording mode.
Hi, ilkerr.
Please check the CAM-S2’s firmware and the App version is latest.
If you have any problem, please submit your feedback on this site:Support - SONOFF Official

I recently bought a S2 Camera as well and I found very disappointing that I can’t see the videos stored in the SD card from the APP.
Imagine that Im travelling, I wake up in the morning and I see a notification of motion detection in my house and I see from the camera that my TV is missing.
The only alternative that I have is travelling back to my house, get the SD card, put it in my laptop (that probably was stoled), download the videos and see what happened?
, I confirm points 1 and 4, and it also annoys me that you need to additionally press the play button to display the video. It is also very difficult to select the desired time interval for viewing the archive. And have you tried connecting the camera to the video recorder via rtsp? I connected the previous version of the camera without problems, but this one does not want to connect.
I also experience the problem described in 1. and this is completely unacceptable! Every time me or my wife start the camera from the app to monitor our kids (which is very very often), our phones (both Samsung Galaxy) stay in “phone call mode” with the microphone open, all the notifications muted, and the volume buttons not controling the media volume. We never experienced anything like that with all the other cameras and software we have used. I just sent this to Sonoff’s support and hopefully they will come up with a solution soon.
UPDATE: I just received this from Sonoff’s support:
Thanks for your sharing. After we confirmed with the technician, this issue is expected to be optimized in the V5.16.0 app version in May. Your patience is highly appreciated!
I would like to add one more thing to above problems…
Notifications comes with a big delay… sometimes it is several seconds and sometimes close to a minute!!! I can trigger an event for example “movement detection” in garage, than go to the living room, sit comfortably on the couch and after that notification comes
It is definitely too long in my opinion… in case of break-in every second counts
edit:
I also noticed that during live preview in the phone application with the sound turned on, the phone speaker creaks and wheezes
The camera as a whole is a failed product. 1. small viewing angle, .2 compared to the previous model, the holder has a smaller reach, 3 the absence of a magnetic base. The only improvement is the quality of pairing, otherwise it’s a waste, I’d rather keep it in a drawer and bought the previous model
Hi there, could you please try to recall the specific time when you experienced a significant delay in receiving the notification?
If possible, it would be great if you could provide the date and time when it happened, then submit a feedback ticket in the eWeLink APP with your camera’s device ID so our development team can help investigate the issue for you.
Also, regarding the speaker issue you mentioned, does this happen every time you open live view? Could you let me know what phone model you’re using?
Hello
There is no specyfic time for this issue… it happens all the time, everyday notifications comes with delay…
Regarding speaker… everytime I use live view speaker makes strange noises…
I’m sending information about my cam-s2 (atachment) and my Phone is Samsung Galaxy S21 FE
Best regards
Artur
I’ve checked your device, and it seems that you have enabled the camera’s Motion Detection feature and allowed push notifications.
Could you please provide a screenshot of the notification you received on your phone, along with the timestamp?
Additionally, regarding the abnormal speaker noise, if possible, could you also provide a short video recording showing the issue?
Thanks a lot for your help!
The first camera cam slim 2 that I bought made a lot of noise. After a week of correspondence with Sonoff representatives, they came to the conclusion that it was a technical malfunction of the camera itself. As a result, they sent me a new one for free, I only paid for shipping since I didn’t buy it from an official store. Later, after the new one arrived, I disassembled the faulty one and after some manipulations with the microphone, it started working normally. But you need to be patient. I disassembled and assembled the camera about 10 times until I found the microphone position in which the sound became normal.
of course, thanks to the Sonoff employees for recognizing the defect and compensation, but now I have 2 cameras that I don’t use. the most incomprehensible thing is that they put a lens with a smaller viewing angle in the new version!!! I don’t understand at all how it is possible to make a new product worse than the previous one??? all the above-mentioned disadvantages can be eliminated with new firmware, but you can’t change the lens!!! a very, very sad story with this camera!!!
It’s ridiculous that I have to change the position of the camera to get sound without interference…
What’s the point of having sound if I have to point the camera in a different direction than the supervised area?!?
