CAM-S2 (cam slim gen2)'s endless software problems

I bought this camera last month. I have been trying it since I bought it, but this model has the most problematic software among the Sonoff products I have used. It seems like it was rushed to the market before the camera software was completely finished.

The only good thing is that the human detection works perfectly.

Software problems.

  1. The biggest problem is that when I open the ewelink application, if I press the camera play button and watch, the phone’s sound goes away. The phone ringtone and media sounds come from the handset instead of the speaker. When someone calls me, I don’t hear the call because the sound comes from the handset.

The solution is to close the ewelink program. But sometimes I turn on the camera and watch the environment, and when I forget to close the program, I miss all the calls.

  1. The camera alarm only works in 24-hour mode. When I select a time range, the alarm doesn’t work. It’s a big security risk. For example, I want the alarm to work only between 23:00 - 07:00, but the alarm doesn’t activate.

  2. When the camera alarm is on in 24-hour mode, scenarios that require both conditions do not work.

For example, when the camera detects a person and the door is open, turn on the lamp. This scenario does not work when the camera alarm is on, but it works when the alarm is off.

When the camera alarm is on, only single-condition scenarios work. For example, when the camera detects a person, turn on the lamp.

  1. I inserted an SD card into the camera. However, on the history view screen, the video time and the timeline do not match. When I select the option to record only the human detection event, the timeline shifts, so I cannot match the yellow areas. Therefore, I have to use 24-hour recording mode.

Hi, ilkerr.
Please check the CAM-S2’s firmware and the App version is latest.

I recently bought a S2 Camera as well and I found very disappointing that I can’t see the videos stored in the SD card from the APP.

Imagine that Im travelling, I wake up in the morning and I see a notification of motion detection in my house and I see from the camera that my TV is missing.

The only alternative that I have is travelling back to my house, get the SD card, put it in my laptop (that probably was stoled), download the videos and see what happened?

Please tell me that Im missing something here.

Thanks

, I confirm points 1 and 4, and it also annoys me that you need to additionally press the play button to display the video. It is also very difficult to select the desired time interval for viewing the archive. And have you tried connecting the camera to the video recorder via rtsp? I connected the previous version of the camera without problems, but this one does not want to connect.
