Bye Bye ihost

im new with ihost , all i can say its a great matter bridge which can be paired to smartthings and home assistant easily , but i dont understand why to use TF sd card while having already a usb port , and the device itself has a wifi but not been used .

That’s something new. Are you sure about it?

it works very well with smartthings and home assistant , the devices now controlled locally instead of cloud and its very responsive

How does iHost supposedly work with Home Assistant? Previously did they not operate in local mode? Excuse me, but what are you even talking about? :man_shrugging:

lets say that you dont use or dont know sonofflan hacs , and you have no idea about the useless beta official addon , simply add the devices through matter , yes its basic functions but it do the job

Interesting, as this is not possible at the moment.

its very possible , for home assistant os and supervised simply add matter integration first and it doesnt require any extra hardware (matter over ethernet) , for home assistant container and core simply add matter container and map it to home assistant matter integration .

That is, iHost is in a bridge role for HA. Sorry, I understood backwards.

i got already a matter bridge for zigbee2mqtt its already under development , i already exposed all my zigbee2mqtt devices to smartthings and its working very well but when i tried it with ewelink matter its only support plugs and switchs only as of now .

if you interested about it

My ihost also soon for sale. This piece of s… doesn’t keep her promises!

Thanks for the tip. Interesting project.

How does it work? Do you install it under docker? Can you make some tutorials? Thanks

How did you install it? I cannot get it to work under docker in ihost

On Windows and on Linux, and not as a docker in iHost [Cube].

It seems that bruanet repository works with ihost docker:

Are we talking about matterbridge or Iobroker?

Sorry. I was talking about iobroker. I still have to figure out the best solution for my configuration. I have ihost, most of sonoff devices wifi with only a ZigBee presence radar. Than I have a couple of tuya wifi devices (a gas detector and a thermostat). Now I would like also to buy a power meter and the best one that match my needs is a Tuya one. I don’t know if is better to buy the ZigBee or the wifi one since I don’t have a Tuya ZigBee bridge.

BTW I have an home server powered by trueNas with a xeon processor an 16 gb of ram so I can install HAOS under a VM. From what I understand I should buy a ZigBee dongle. Correct?

My needs are:

  1. Create some additional automations to the ihost ones (local or cloud) to integrate Tuya with eWelink
  2. Have an aggregated portal accessible from remote
  3. Control everything from Alexa

What would you suggest?

Correct. When you do, move all your devices to HA and forget about iHost. With HA, the better option would be z Zigbee power meter. Before you buy one, make sure it works with ZHA or other integration of your choice. The repository is here. Keep in mind that there may be some latest devices missing. Then go to HA forum and do some searching.
