All my lights and most of my sensors paired with iHost are exposed to HomeKit, but I have a variety of buttons from Philips, Aqara and Ikea, and none of them are exposed.
Is this a coincidence or are buttons not supported?

Not supported; You can try Matter Bridge instead for partial features in HomeKit.
Zigbee buttons are way too hard to standardize their customized clusters; almost every scene button has unique event action names.
Isn’t it what I’m doing already?
Ah sorry, forgive my misunderstanding. I thought you were using HomeBridge at first sight.
I think some scene buttons can be exposed to HomeKit via Matter, such as SONOFF 01P and Aqara T1 mini wireless switch.
Also part of IKEA remotes/dimmers will work.
What models of scene buttons do you have?

The two device types are listed as unknown. That’s why they are not ported to Matter.
We are now looking into optimizing the capability of such devices and will update you with any progress.
Thx for your feedback.
