All 4 SONOFF S40TPB smart plug devices shut off without my command…at the same time…randomly and regularly.
I have proven that the devices go to the power on state in settings. The device called Dishwasher had a power on state of ON and never turned off when the other devices did until I changed the power on state to OFF, then it turned off with the rest of the devices next time. I performed this test 3 times to be sure that I was right.
I believe that all 4 devices must be getting told to restart or reset from the server side. I submitted a ticket some time ago to SONOFF ITEAD but have had no response, yet.
I find it hard to believe that all 4 devices would fail in the same way, at the same time, every time.
Here are some screenshots of the issue:
All 4 shut off, with no command to do so from me:
I recieve 4 notifications from eWeLink that the devices changed state:
All 4 device logs in eWeLink show no record of the devices turning off on Dec. 7, even though they did turn off:
Could there is no record in the log files because the devices were restarting but why would all 4 devices restart at the same time?
Has anyone else had an issue like this or know of a solution?
Do this devices have some sort of treshold setings? Maybe you have a problem with electricity in your house and setting you have in treshold turn devices off.
No threshold settings, used for simple On/Off functionality, no automation either. Devices have worked for a couple of years without issues. The other 45 smart devices on my network have no issues, only these 4. Power monitor system shows a stable electrical system voltage and frequency.
Then probably some server/app problem. I to have a problem with one wifi device. Wait for sonnoff staf to answer.
OK, thanks for the reply.
I’ll add some other info that I submitted in the ticket to SONOFF ITEAD.
Some information that might be helpful.
A test for troubleshooting:
I turned all 4 of the S40TPB devices.

All the plugs turned off, without an OFF command. The event was not recorded in the logs.

Here is the log for the first device listed:

Since I am not commanding the devices to turn off, could the devices be getting remotely reset from the server?
More info:
All 4 devices turned off at same time, eWeLink detected status change and popped notifications on my phone, I turned them all back on, right away.
This is log from one of the devices (they all have the same record). Note that the device log doesn’t show any OFF commands, Only recorded when I turned them back on.
What can be causing 4 devices to turn off simultaneousy, uncommanded?
I entered the 4 device id’s in the ticket submitted to SONOFF. A ticket number was not provided in the automated reply from SONOFF. Waiting on further response to the ticket.
I want to thank Aron from SONOFF for contacting me by email regarding my ticket. Technicians are looking into the problem.
An update…
I plugged 2X Globe smart plugs with the same Power-on state set to OFF into the same power outlet as the SONOFF S40 smart plugs with Power-on state set to OFF.
Once again, the 4X SONOFF S40 smart plugs turned themselves off. The 2X Globe smart plugs remained in the on state. I think this proves conclusively that the power supply to the devices cannot be the cause of the S40 issues.
4X S40 smart plugs turned off.
No off commands recorded in logs.
eWlink app saw the S40’s status change, sent notifications.
Globe smart plugs remained on (plugged in to same outlet as 2X S40’s)
4X SONOFF S40 smart plugs just shut off again, meanwhile the Globe smart plugs, plugged in the same duplex outlet, remain on.
