Why doesn’t sonoff make a single bridge device with all the features of the old ones? I find much “inconsistency” in sonoff bridges. I’ll try to explain myself. ZBBridge-U has matter, ok, wow! Unfortunately it can’t connected to many devices Zbbridge-p can connect to (but no matter there, yes). Zbbridge-p has channel selection for zigbee network (channel 11, 15, 25… with a clear graph of free channels, nice feature). Since ZBBridge-U is a newer device the seme features should be there but… wait, no channel selection there and no graph, what…? Should we buy full sonoff ecosystem to get our zigbee net somehow working?
-P and -U use different Zigbee components, while the latter have more potential for customized Zigbee devices. A future firmware should lift these limits once it is more stable for the general public.
This is an interesting point of view. I didn’t know zbbridge-u was released only for beta testers. No notice on online shops or in user manual. Maybe starting with 2.x.x release it will exit beta tasting and be finally suitable for general public? Do you happen to know when this is going to happen? I hope there’s not many sonoff devices out there still in beta tasting, maybe I have some of them .
Hey, sorry for the confusion.
To clarify, it’s not a general beta but internal development. The support of customized (none-standardized) zigbee devices from IKEA was part of the efforts.
