Some of you may remember that we once released an official eWeLink integration for Home Assistant - here’s the old post.
That add-on allowed users to:
Import eWeLink Cloud supported devices into Home Assistant
Sync Home Assistant devices back to eWeLink Cloud for remote control
Later, this add-on stopped receiving updates and support.
We’re excited to let you know that we’ve decided to bring it back !
Our team is developing a new eWeLink Smart Home Add-on for Home Assistant. We’ll continue improving it and releasing new versions to support more of the latest eWeLink-supported devices.
Here’s what will change with the new version:
Support for more eWeLink devices
It will no longer sync Home Assistant devices back to eWeLink Cloud
We’ll provide a migration path from the old add-on to the new one - after migration, the old add-on will no longer be supported
All releases and updates will be available on GitHub, along with community support
If you have any questions, ideas, or feedback , please share them below. We’re listening and would love to hear what features or device support matter most to you.
Will it be possible to view Ewelink Devices and entities and allow for setting out automations, push for firmware updates etc?
Honestly, the old add on felt more like a web browser and not an add on. It was also buggy and unresponsive. In my case I found it more responsive when devices were synched through Smarthings.
It did not display devices properly and lacked support for many devices.
The Sonoff integration that is not supported by Sonoff/ewelink works extremely well forb he devices it supports. I hope you will be able to design the add on to be at par or even supersede the Sonoff integration.
If not, you would be better off to invest in updating the Sonoff integration , or support its developer to. do so.
No worry! We will support firmware updates and automation settings in HA. The new add-on will definitely support more devices and come with optimizations.
This is part of our plan, but it will take some time. We expect to release the first version by the end of December. Compared to the old eWeLink Smart Home add-on, it will support more devices, and the second version will include more features for those devices.
That’s great news …. I agree with others yes eWeLink integration in home assistant is almost unusable and better off using the sonoff integration to MQTT but device support is limited it will be good to have a full integration with HA supported devices
