Sonoff Zigbee vs Tuya Zigbee

Have you ever tried succesfully a Tuya Zigbee device on a Sonoff Zigbee bridge, on the EWELINK application? ie: a curtain motor or else?

Is there a motorized Blind/Curtain eWelink enable system? Sonoff switches are available, but I find only Tuya motor devices.

FOLLOW UP: I just ordered a Tuya enable motor and I will try to modify it so it works with a Sonoff DualR3 Lite switch, that I already have. The issue is that this device is 100/240 Vac with no dry contacts.

My 5Vdc curtain motor Tuya Zigbee 3.0 is NOT compatible with my Sonoff Zigbee 3.0 bridge; so I identified the Pos. & Neg. contacts on the device. I am now strugling to find a Sonoff curtain switch that works on 5Vdc and has dry contacts that has the possibility to stop the motor and inverse its polarities. Do you have any idea which 5 Volts Sonoff device will do that? As [Up] [Stop] [Down] button possibilities); knowing that DC motor inverse itself by inverting the polarities.

Some things will work. Somethings will not. Your best chance is to use an item there is a Sonoff equivalent Zigbee device for already and to ensure it has standard Zigbee 3.0 already. Then it is about luck.

and therefore it would be a good idea to create a list of things that are compatible.

Pretty sure there is a list of third parties, not just Tuya but it’s not exhaustive so often you end up gambling anyway. Plus they might change the firmware/PCB so you might think a device is incompatible but it was only compatible if bought a year ago or something.

I’ve never been able to find a list, and even if the devices are no longer compatible, it’s always better than trial and error.

I would be very cautious- the only Tuya devices that I’ve used on a Sonoff (iHost) Zigbee Network were usb repeater/ router devices and they caused various intermittent problems. Stick with Sonoff products as your first choice if they have a device that meets your requiremnts. So far the 3rd Party IKEA devices that I have on my network : Tradfri Bulbs and Tretakt mains plugs work without any problems.

It’s a spreadsheet not a list. Available from the Sonoff website if you look at the bottom of the page for the iHost.

Note: that is the Sonoff iHost, which is better at Zigbee. I’d be more dubious if I was using a Zigbee bridge.

Hi,
I bought more than a year ago a zigbee curtain device
(https://www.expert4house.com/en/smart-home/zigbee-devices/tuya-zigbee-module-for-smart-shutters)
since Sonoff didn’t have a zigbee one.
I failed to notice that the store was in Italy, I ended paying €34 (including post and taxes) just to be dissappointed since my NSPanelPro could not see it.

The device went into a box, and I bought the sonoff WiFi option, which works fine, as long as my NsPanelPro doesn’t loose the wifi connection (which it does too often), in that case the only option to open the “rolladen” is alexa, I needed to create specific “phrases” for the three I have.

Last week I tried the Tuya again and this time it connected, and in the ewelink it looks like a curtain (the sonoff wifi are detected just as motors, and alexa gets a “device” for each possibility: “persiana switch 1”, “persiana switch 2”, “persiana switch curtain” etc. which is very annoying) so I believe the “problem” why it was not found before was “resolved” in the ewelink app or sonoff panel firmware updates.

just an update:
The tuya zigbee curtain “works with sporadic errors”. I have an NS Panel Pro as hub, in the eWelink app I see a curtain (horizontal movement) while I am controlling a vertical curtain, but that is anecdotic (specially since in the sonoff wifi I DON’T see any curtain or whatsoever) but the open/close buttons are reversed (just the buttons, so it is not fixed by reversing the motor) and when I use them, it gets into aprox 30% shut or 30% open, and need to press the button again for completely shut or open. And sometimes the eWelink gives an error (with a promo to “send a message”). It does not have an option (as the sonoff wifi version) to calibrate the motor, so the motot has to be calibrated by itself for the end points.

Sonoff has lazy developers. Every user sees how many crucial software flaws are ignored for years, and the answer is always the same: reset, re-pair, check your hardware, and it’s almost Chinese New Year, so be happy like us!

eWeLink staff here, just make some inputs on my own acknowledge,

1, Zigbee protocol have various versions, and Brands/manufacturers using the version by their own chioce, even to modidy/customize part of the protocol for special needs, those things level up the difficult of compatibilities for gateway/bridge manufacturers.

2, Far from i know, sonoff team is suffering the problem too, so they joined us, to develop different gateway/bridges to meet the complexity.

things i can remember is, correct me if i am worng, zigbee-p only support zigbee devices made by sonoff,

-u and ihost is try to make more compatible with end-devices on the market, by display the capabilities/UIs based-on the devices clusters reported when they initial onboarding on the gateway/bridges(-u/ihost), if the device tell the -u/ ihost with wrong/missing/mixing clusters, it really to gathering proper info then display the right UI/capacity to users.
