It would be brilliant for Sonoff to release a zigbee rains sensor to be used along with the zigbee SWV Sonoff Water Valve, currently using an altered zigbee rain sensor SNZB-05P - on the Ewelink app , it would be great to add a weather forecast into a set Trigger - so if rain is predicted etc.
So I used a standard SNZB-05P connected with its cable directly to a Rain Drop Module - connected to Ewelink - and automated it to disable my scenes controlling my SWV and it works 100% - the rain drop module stands at an angle - @SONOFF-Staff @eWeLink
Lovely work! I would add some hot glue on the screws for water resistance.
Can you send a wiring diagram or a photo of this project?
Its very simple , SNZB-05P Water Leak Sensor connected with a WLDC200 Water Leak Sensor Cable - cut the end of the cable off - solder to the Rain Drop Module - preferable one with pins so that you can solder the cable inside the housing and keep the water leak sensor cable form getting wet - put in a water tight housing - angle it so that drops run of the front of the module and setup in Ewelink
The screws and spacers of the rain drop module are sealed with glue and the screws of the box does not penetrate the housing + the lid has a rubber seal
Thanks.
Does the Rain Drop Module require additional power?
not required
Maybe it is possible to solder the wires from the RainDrop module directly to the SNZB-05P without the WLDC200?
it should be possible , I just went with the cable - it was the least invasive way of doing some tests - I believe the connectors on the SNZB-05P are gold plated to make sure it does not rust - so take that into consideration
The idea is most definitely ok. Although personally I would rather not destroy the cable permanently, but make a USB end, but thatâs a detail.
However, generally using 05P is rather a slightly more expensive option compared to the regular DW2.
I use both DW2RF and DW2WIFI, where I desoldered the contact and soldered the cable terminated for my needs with a water level sensor. But the principle of operation is the same, provided that the water/humidity sensor is a reed relay type with an open/closed state.
Of course, it doesnât look so nice in ewelink when it writes âdoorâ next to the sensor and no zigbee.
Hello, you can try this module
Also a good idea , went purely for the SNZB-05P Leak Sensor - because of the water animation in the eWelink app + how it looks inside eWelink Web - only down side is the action comes through as leaking/Leak detected etc. - but its ok -

Sometimes looks are very important hi hi
You can always tell yourself that the sky is leaking.
I also have 05P + WLDC200 but I use it with its original purpose as a sensor in the bathroom.
It would be so cool if Sonoff developed a rain sensor.
I used this sensor in a pair with a zgb door opening sensor to detect overheating of a solid fuel boiler. The boiler has a safety group, an air valve. When the temperature is too high, and therefore the pressure in the heating system is increased, then water splashes out through the air valve. I placed this sensor in such a way that water splashes would hit it.
