So I have some Sonoff M5-1C/2C-86W distributed in my home and tonight I had some ISP disconnection so at 5AM I woke up to my house blinking red like I had parked a fire truck inside with the lights on. Only the siren was missing. I’m still going to buy four more for bedrooms and another spot but now I’m kind of refraining from it because I don’t want to wake up the kids and everything when my ISP decides to work on the network by night.
Is there really no way of turning off the no cloud access warning? I’ve read through the topics and that seems to be the case. My setup for now is HA with HACS sonofflan integration. I use the ewelink app too so I can have access to the switches in HA.
How can I advert turning my house into red light district?
For now, the only solution is to use some stylish little dots cut out of opaque adhesive tape. Your problem is well‑known and, as far back as I can remember, it keeps making a triumphant comeback like a bad sitcom reboot.
Now for the explanation: this behavior CANNOT be disabled in the original firmware. There is:
no option in the eWeLink app,
no hidden setting,
no parameter in LAN mode,
no API,
no Home Assistant hack that would allow you to disable the LED blinking that indicates loss of connection to the cloud.
Thanks, I was almost sure that was the case! I really hope someone decides to fix it in a firmware update. The lack of connection can be “transmitted” to the user without a Red Alert!
