Sengled bulbs and Ihost

Hi,

i’m new to the zigbee world, i have 2 sengled bulds and an ihost, i was hoping to pair the bulbs directly to the ihost but not sure how to best go about it, i have looked on line and haven’t really seen a clear tutorial on the matter or if it’s possible.

appreciate any help you folks can provide.
thanks

Sengled has more than 40 Zigbee bulbs on offer. Are we to guess which ones you have?
As for pairing with iHost, it works the same as with any other Zigbee device. To be sure, reset the bulbs. Ensure that the bulb is on and then quickly turn the bulb off and on at least 10 times (using a light switch or power bar works best). If the reset is successful, the bulb will flash 5 times. If it does not flash 5 times, you will have to try again. Then start the pairing in iHost. If iHost supports bulbs, it will recognise them and add them to the list. If nothing like this happens, you have to use a different approach.

Additional note to jam3’s answers:

Generally, for smart lights, power cycling 5-10 times would reset them. You would see an obvious reaction from the light, for instance, a quick flash, red, or another distinguishable color.

Follow the guides from vendor’s manual or those on zigbee2mqtt site.

After enabling them to the pair mode, you are free to enable device discovery on iHost web UI: Home Page - + button - Add device - start setup

Thanks guys, I am new to all this so appreciate the advice and input. I reset the bulbs and it worked just fine, for some reason i didn’t think the sengled paired directly, but they did.

now i have to swap over my couple of hue bulbs and i can get rid of all the bridges and just have the ihost.

thanks again

Glad it worked.

A friendly reminder - Hue bulbs, are different from others, generally need its app or dimmer to reset. And very old Hue that using touchlink only may not work with iHost.

Thanks, I was fiddling with it last night and ran out of time. I was thinking of just linking the hue account to eWeLink and then managing it all through the ihost in the cube part.

Not sure if that will work but hey I’m new so have to try things out.

This only works with eWeLink apps. And iHost is free of eWeLink cloud, working locally.
