Responsive UI for iHost on Smart phones

I have x86-64 home server with XEON CPU, 16gb of ram and 2tb of raid disks. Right now it is in a remote place since I’m refurbishing home, but as soon it will come back I will run HAOS in a virtual machine and put my ihost in the closet unless something will change before that. I’m just upset that I paid 100 bucks for a useless hardware.

Matter device types should be supported by the destination hub. I hardly doubt that an air quality device will show something under Alexa.

BTW there are several revision of matter. The last one is 1.3 which also support smart tvs. Again, I don’t think that a tv will ever show under ewelink through the matter hub.

That’s why a was asking about smarthings since it seems to support a huge quantity of different devices (like also Tuya). But I don’t know if this is reflected also to Matter appliances.

That’s the state of Matter at this time.
The Matter device type protocol updates slowly. The certifaction by the Distribute Compliance Ledger (DCL) seems irregular, each manufacturer or platform moves at their own speed (or stops dead like IKEA). A Matter Bridge one way out seems to be gaining popularity, but the other way in no. Where new uncertified capabilities are developed for a device that is Matter compliant this causes confusion as it doesn’t bridge, but what should the manufacturer do - not develop new functions?
And then there will be the commercial war of comply with Matter or no - case of Alexa following Matter TV casting that Google Chromecast or Apple TV don’t want to follow.
I find it difficult to put all the blame on the maker of the destination hub.:man_shrugging:

Smartthings has a terrific range of drivers for handling Zigbee and Zwave appliances and can pair just about anything.
With Matter however their are just a few standard drivers, Matter Switch, Matt Sensor etc Not clear at this moment in time whether community drivers will, or can be developed.
I’m personally only counting on using Matter bridging for next couple of years.

Nice to see how a post about iHost UI has opened a whole world!

OMG! Why don’t they clean up the mess called Chromcast first?

Pretty sure the chip in the iHost and others is capable of doing both Zigbee and Thread simultaneously using the Silicon Labs firmware. I’venever read them planning to do this though. Using both protocols on one radio can’t be done entirely on hardware, but this isn’t a problem with iHost, but could be a problem for lower power devices such as the Zigbee Bridge Pro. As the NS Panel Pro can already do Zigbee Router mode, I doubt it would be hard to have an equivalent thread router mode, as it can run on hardware only and they must already allow the radio to have firmware updating.

The RCP Multi-PAN firmware is designed to run on Silicon Labs EFR32 chips, acting as a Radio Co-Processor (RCP). There are numerous versions, all of them are not final yet.
There are flashing tools available, but not a single one supports iHost. This is because the SI chip is built into iHost and communication is mediated by the system. Also, the system itself has to ‘know’ how to handle Multi-PAN. Until Sonoff does something about this, the chances are poor.

Good day.
Please help me out .
From all the responses that Ive read now, is it still worth it to buy a ihost?
I want to controll my switches and monitor power local on ihost as well as via ewelink app.
Will it work or must I look for something else ?
What else will you recomment ?
I want something that can work local while internet is off as well as monitoring via app when internet is on.
I also dont want to use different apps. Everything must be able to work with one app.

I’d rather recommend that you look for something else :sunglasses:

Thank you. Any suggestions ?

What kind of devices do you use? WiFi? Zigbee? Mixture of both?

Currently I only have sonoff wifi devices.
1x door sensor
1x RFR2 smart switch
1x POWR320D Power monitoring switch

You don’t need iHost to support this. In addition, local WiFi device support in iHost is no different from local LAN mode in the app. What are your goals and objectives?

Geaser timer is running on set times
I want to add door sensors with light switches that will switch ligĥts according to the door status using scenes. Also to give me notifications
And some lights need to switch on and off according to sunrise and sun set.
I want to monitor and switch devices from my phone when internet is working.
The problem is when the internet is not working then the scenes are not working.

If you like challenges, use a tablet with Android and Macrodroid app + ewelink app and build the entire operating logic instead of ewelink scenes.
Doable? Yes. Comfortable? Not completely. Doing it this way in 2024 is a bit of a sad joke so it’s probably better to go in the direction of HA/Node…
