R5 remotes have a long press option. It works, but you have to be very careful to press long enough. When the long press toggles the light, very often the light comes on and immediately goes out. This behaviour can be troublesome. Unfortunately, there is no way to set a wait time, so unwanted repetition is usually unavoidable. Any ideas for a solution? In my opinion, it is necessary to modify the software of the eWeLink Remote controllers, because this happens with every controller (NSPanel Pro, MINIR4 or M5).
How did you set the scene?.
long press turns on the device. or does it reverse the device state? must be On or OFF.
in the case of the MiniR4, setting the state of the external switch is also important.
It does not affect eWeLink Remote.
influences the course of the scene.
if a two-state switch is connected to minir4. the switch mode is set to edge.
the switch is in the off position.
a loop is created.
scene Z R5 turns on the light. and the switch position causes the light to go out.
Hey,
The long press was designed to send actions constantly to be used as a dimmer for certain lights.
The device is also too basic to have the OTA ability, and even if SONOFF wants to change the logic, it will affect users who adopt it as a light dimmer.
Thanks for sharing the information.
- I have not been able to use a long press as a dimming control with any of the light sources for the simple reason that scenes do not provide for such an action after all. Can Sonoff point out a way to achieve something like this? What certain lights do they have in mind?
- I understand that R5 are non-OTA devices, but you could probably modify the logic in M5 or NSPanel to add an option, couldn’t you?
I think BL-05 and 02 should work
There are many devices with eWeLink-Remote gateway, not just the two, and it would be serious to upgrade them all. But I would leave that decision to SONOFF.
Of course. Let them think about it.
However, I have the impression that the issue of long pressing has not been well thought out. Two devices are for possible dimming operation, and the rest are left with the looping problem. Whatever the case, it is peculiar.
It’s a dilemma, I think, when designing such a device. In this case, I would rather call it a dimmer rather than a simple scene button.
I currently use R5 via NodeRed and it works quite well. I can perform interesting functions with 1 click, 2 clicks and the long click. I only used it with NodeRed so I don’t know how it behaves outside of NodeRed.
