Firmware 4.2.0 and SNZB-02DR2 (aka AirGuard TH)

Question for the eWeLink team… When can we expect 02DR2 to be added to WEB/CAST?

I need to display local temperature from 02DR2 in CAST…

@MichaelLearnsToCode

Another thing missing from the eWeLink app for the 02DR2 is signal strength. Other sensors have this.

@Nancy-ProductManager

Could we consider changing the way the outdoor temperature is displayed?

Specifically, the EXT1 position only uses the left segment. I would suggest also using the right segment for the values after the . (dot).

Currently, the font size is very small, and from a distance, a temperature like 1.5°C can be read as 15°C. Let the left segment display the data before the dot, and let the right segment display the data after the dot.

This won’t look pretty, but it will provide greater separation after the dot. This is technically feasible, as these segments are normally used to display max/min temp values.

You’re absolutely right. It’s not exactly a triumph of design. The digits are almost glued together with no room to breathe, and the whole thing is rather hard to read. It looks a bit like the inside of a tram during rush hour :slight_smile:
Still, the idea of putting the decimal part in a second segment is just as bad, and the visual effect would be even stranger. In my view, it simply doesn’t make sense. I’d round it to a whole number; it would ease the crowding a touch and be far kinder on the eyes.

For this specific model, the key limitation is not the numeric segments themselves (we could map another value to the humidity digits), but the dedicated symbols/indicators in that field: the humidity area has a “%” symbol but no “°C/°F” unit segments (and the related indicators are not interchangeable).That means we could end up showing an external temperature number without a correct unit/label, which would be ambiguous and could confuse users.

What you wrote is only partially true. Yes, the humidity field has a fixed “%” symbol and no “°C/°F” segments, so you can’t display a temperature with a unit in that spot. That’s a real hardware limitation and nobody is disputing it.

However, everything beyond that is a soft argument rather than a technical one. Claiming that “the user might get confused” is quite a stretch. Most people focus on the numeric value, not the unit icon, especially on a device that only shows three things: indoor temperature, humidity, and outdoor temperature. What else would anyone expect there? Lottery results?

The hardware has no problem displaying any number in that field. The limitation applies only to the unit symbol, not the digits themselves. The fact that eWeLink doesn’t want to show, for example, a second temperature without a unit is a product decision and a UX preference, not a technical impossibility.

And honestly, this is a good opportunity to refine the data presentation. Even with the screen’s hardware constraints, it makes sense to implement whatever is feasible and give users more configuration options. I’m confident the eWeLink team could handle adding such features without (major) difficulty and implement them in the App. I recon that if needed, the community will gladly help.

In short:

  1. Yes, you can’t add a temperature unit there - that’s a fact.
  2. No, that doesn’t prevent displaying other values - that’s your choice, not a hardware limitation.

Web/CAST will support 02DR2 in v3.23 which is scheduled to be released on January 22th, 2026.

When talking about being confused - is it “22” or “2.2”. Is this about the degrees, or can be something else as well. What do you think looking from some distance? :slight_smile:

Dear Sonoff

In response to your survey regarding the SNZB-02D device, please share your findings. We don’t want another product that doesn’t fully meet our needs.

The new SNZB-02DR2 was supposed to be an interesting product, but it has many shortcomings. :cry:

This is a bug of eWeLink App and we have just fixed it. Please take your time to verify it.

Thanks again for reporting the bug.

A bit long, but what can you do… :confused:

Yes, it would look bad, but what other solution is there? In marketing materials, the EXT1 position looked much clearer, but in practice it is hardly visible, especially that dot.

That’s right. It’s now showing. Thx

It is as it was said, “LLL” is displayed when the temperature is below minus Celsius…

How you people can’t check things like this before releasing a product is shocking… :(((((

The v1.0.3 version which fix this issue should come out today or tomorrow.

Last night an update showed up for about an hour. I tried installing it several times, but it never actually finished. Sometimes the progress bar even reached 100%, and then it just failed. I’m pretty sure that’s why it was pulled so quickly.

I checked two or three times, and a few minutes ago, and it’s all gone. You seem to have caught the moment. :slight_smile:

It’s scary to think what new errors will appear. :slight_smile:

Today version 1.0.3 came back. It downloads more smoothly and always reaches 100%, but the end result is the same. Waking it up with the button doesn’t help either. Overall, it’s pretty disappointing :man_tipping_hand:

Overall, this isn’t an eWeLink forum issue at all - Sonoff is the one screwing this up.
