Thanks to you for all that you do and your hard work and above all wonderful products that you develop, because I know it well and I not only own iHost but many other Sonoff products. Regarding integration possibility of installing HA directly from Cube OS is a wonderful news and not only for me and also for many others, that will surely make iHost better smart hub and not only design. It only need little hardware update.Keep it up guys. Regarding testing the possibility of installing HA directly from Cube OS it would be a pleasure and I will send you device id privately, but after switching from HA to cube os or similar problem as in this topic
Thank you very much for your recognition, that means a lot to me and our team.
The post you referenced seems to mention two issues:
- The eWeLink CUBE OS was not stable, and it may take a long time to come online.
- The CUBE OS only integrated some SONOFF/eWeLink devices, not all of them.
From what I know, CUBE OS does have a bad history of stability and compatibility, but it also does improve a lot. Of course, regarding to flexibility and fine-tuning, CUBE OS is not a match to Home Assistant OS. Thatās why many iHost users told us it would be better for iHost to also support Home Assistant OS.
We are not abandoning CUBE OS, and CUBE OS should also not try to compete with HA. CUBE OS should has its own strength in specific area. As @jam3 has mentioned and I am totally agree with him, there should be easy ways to locally bridge CUBE OS (NSPanel Pro, iHost, and maybe ZBBridge-U) and Home Assistant.
@yitie is in charge of CUBE OS development and promotion, I am sure he would love to hear the ideas to improve CUBE OS.
What should I do in that case? It was boot in cube os all night and it always remained the same and I have no device connected in cube os. In my opinion it is an Ethernet problem as I said before, because even when I boot in HA in network settings it does not identify the ethernet connection as if it were not connected, only wifi
Regarding cube os and HA, yes cube os is good I had no problems, but HA is much more customizable, especially with Zigbe2mqtt
You can boot into CUBE OS (the side LED stripe should in Marquee Red
mode), but there is no IP of iHost show up in your routerās dashboard? You canāt ping
the IP or visist CUBE OSās dashboard? Right?
What is the lighting status of the side LED stripe of your iHost? Could you post a photo or short video of the side LED stripe?
@KwayLi99 I think itās better to create a seperate topic just for looking into @imassig 's issue
yes
when itās booting the blinking red stripe, for me when boot complete after some minutes itās stop blinking and stay red permanent
shot video i can do this afternoon
I see. If you are sure that iHost was booting into eWeLink CUBE OS not Home Assistant OS (no Breathing Blue
before Solid Red
), then the Solid Red
means ethernet is not connected or not working correctly. Please double check the ethernet cable. If the cable is fine, the router is fine, then the ethernet port is dead.
Itās a well-known issue of darkxstās HAOS image:
The candidate solutions are:
- Use a USB to Ethernet adpater to get network access as discussed in above issue page
- Use the buildin Wi-Fi instead. We could develope a tool for you to specify the Wi-Fi SSID and password so eWeLink CUBE OS will use Wi-Fi adapter if ethernet is broken.
- You may join our āEarly Bird Testingā program which we will send you an iHost for free. You will need to apply for it through an online form and pass our review.
Yes it is and I am sure that ihost is booted on Cube OS and not HA, and it is flashing red for a few minutes before solid red, and that means that I am on cube os, in fact I read some review yesterday on the forum that solid red and problems with network, that I was sure and that is why I could not install HA. And yes yesterday I tried to connect my laptop to that ethernet cable and everything is fine and connected and it works. Anyway at home I had a USB to Ehernet, but I canāt find it, I ordered one and it should arrive tomorrow, Iāll try and let you know how it goes
and yes if the problem was with ethernet Iām sure that HA will install on the TF cards that I have like a charm
thanks
if you want short video of ihost boot i can do this later
Donāt bother to take the video, letās try the USB to Ethernet adapter first. Iāll order one and try it myself.
Donāt worry, Iāve already ordered it and itāll arrive tomorrow, so Iāll tell you everything tomorrow
thanks
Hi, I have bought and tested 4 USB to Ethernet adapter. They all work on HA over iHost, but they donāt work on eWeLink CUBE OS over iHost. Because eWeLink CUBE OS doesnāt include the corresponding Linux kernel drivers.
These 4 adapters are using 2 kinds of USB to Ethernet chips:
I hope the one you bought works for you.
this I ordered will arrive today, I will let you know how it went. But this is bad news, because you say that I will never be able to install your HA image, since it requires ethernet
Sorry for the misunderstanding.
In my previous post, I said They all work on HA over iHost
, so you can use the USB to Ethernet adapter while booting into Home Assistant OS (our hassos image, not darkxstās) on TF card. Just insert the adapter into USB port and plugin ethernet cable before you boot the Home Assistant OS on TF card.
You just canāt use USB to Ethernet adapter on eWeLink CUBE OS for now.
when i boot already installed or i can also run a new installation just flashed on TF over Ethernet to USB? I just received my adapter on Realtek RTL 8153 chip and seems it doesnāt work
when i boot already installed or i can also run a new installation just flashed on TF over Ethernet to USB?
They all should work. However I would suggest running a new HA installation on TF card with USB to Ethernet adapter plugged into USB port first, and find out if you can see the IP on routerās dashboard when iHost boots into HA.
Note: you should use the HA image provided by us, not darkxst.
I am waiting for the delivery of my SanDisk TF that you recommended to install your HA image, because as you know it didnāt work on the ones I have, not even via Ethernet to USB that I tried yesterday, and thatās my last hope, because now even the HA of darkxts that I installed has stopped working and itās always in boot with a flashing blue light and I donāt even see the IP of my dashboard of my router nor can I reinstall that, and now with my iHost I canāt do anything, neither use it with Cube OS nor with HA, and maybe itās also my fault, that I shouldnāt have even tried to install unofficial HA. Thanks for your patience

Donāt worry, we are here to help. We will find out ways if you want HA over iHost
Thanks and nice to hear this, this confirms once again that you are professionals. Rightly I would have also used Cube OS if in the future you make it more customizable. and then I also have a third solution you flash two TF with HA and I buy them I wait for my TF and then Iāll let you know. Thanks
This is normal with HA. Even with HA Green it takes forever.
Not true. Mine is up and running within 60~90 seconds with several add-ons. You can hardly call it āforeverā. The same is with HA on RPi 4 with 8GB RAM.
