What kind of HAOS can I install on CubeOS 2.5.1?

Great news! Will this be a separate device or will the SoM be replaceable?
In any case, I’m really looking forward to it! Please, more RAM and emmc + nvme connection.

Please, add Thread support too. To a new 2025 release, Thread radio should be mandatory.

Hi Jonas,

Thanks for your post! If you’re having trouble accessing Home Assistant, here are a few steps to help troubleshoot:

  • Confirm that your iHost Ethernet port is working by verifying it connects to eWeLink CUBE and has an IP address.
  • Ensure the HA image is downloaded from our official GitHub and not from unofficial sources.
  • Check that the IP is reachable (ping test).
  • Use the Supervisor diagnostic interface (http://<HA_IP_or_HA_DOMAIN>:4357) to check if Supervisor is running.
  • If everything seems fine but you’re still facing issues, try rebooting the iHost and checking the brand and write speed of the TF card used.

Sure, we’re planning this!

Yes, the ethernet port is working when I revert back to eWeLink CUBE and I can access that web interface just fine…

Yes, both 14.1 and 15.1 is downloaded from the official GitHub repo…

I can’t access any ports as the network is not properly initialized at boot so no network access at all…

I have tried and reflash the 14.1 image that worked before, and the network port on the switch lights up with this version but it still doesn’t get the IP assigned in the router (iHost MAC is assigned to a static IP)

Maybe it is the TF card, I am using the same 128gb card that I bought with the iHost when launched, it is a Kingston A1 class, should that be enough?

Cheers

Jonas

Unfortunately, the LAN port also disappears for me after 1-2 days of operation, and it no longer receives an IP address from the router. Only a restart helps. It’s a shame, because otherwise it would work quite well.

Always flash the extracted one. For me, version 15.1 works, but unfortunately after 1-2 days it randomly drops the network. So it’s unusable.

There is an iHost Open Source Project that is working on enabling other Smart Home OS on SONOFF iHost. To run HA on iHost, you can refer to HA over iHost. There are detailed instructions on where to download the image, how to flash it onto TF card, and boot from TF card on iHost.

Anyone interested in running Home Assistant OS on SONOFF iHost is highly recommended to use hassos image from iHost Open Source Project. The port of HA on iHost is well maintained and works well. There are also several other sub projects going on which will make HA works on iHost better, such as:

You can get all add-ons for HA on iHost by adding repo GitHub - iHost-Open-Source-Project/hassio-ihost-addon to your HA.

Does the ethernet work stable on eWeLink CUBE OS? Is it not stable only on HA over iHost?

I am running HA over iHost RV1109 for about 3 weeks (from 14.1, 15.1 and now 15.2), and I have migrated zigbee network from my old HA on Virtual Machine to HA over iHost, everything works smooth, except for one thing: some add-ons don’t work on 32 bit SoC SBC, aka, iHost.

By the way, if you have issues with ethernet, try to iHost’s buildin 2.4GHz Wi-Fi. From my experience, iHost’s buildin Wi-Fi works pretty stable on HA, just noticable slower than ethernet.

Whatever the project may be, the hardware is proudly stuck in 32-bit territory—a veritable museum piece in the making. Software lifespan? Entirely hinged on the devotion of a select group of enthusiasts who probably dream in assembly code. Honestly, I wouldn’t touch it with a ten-foot pole unless my true passion was channeling my inner Michelangelo and chiseling away at tech relics. Exciting, right? Not exactly.

Sure, it’s your choice to stay away from HA over iHost or iHost itself, and you are free to comment on iHost Open Source Project.

But we saw people are interested in running HA over iHost, and we are doing this for them. Talk is cheap, you will see how much enthusiasm and dedication we have for iHost.

By the way, a 64 bit SoC iHost is on its way.

Will it also be possible to control the built-in light and function buttons in the ihost ewelink cube?
Will Dongle Flasher be available?

In my view, this is at least a year too late. But who’s stopping you from wasting time and resources. Go ahead and knock yourself out. I cross my fingers :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

This direction seems much sexier and more promising than a 32-bit zombie revival.

By the way, I genuinely wish you all the best—no sarcasm, just good faith critique here. And hey, if I had a Sonoff crammed up my rear, I definitely wouldn’t be posting on this forum either.

iHost Hardware Control Add-on can control the buttons and indicators of iHost. We have given some examples of common usage scenarios. Please refer to the wiki in the github project.
SONOFF Dongle Flasher for iHost Add-on only supports flashing iHost’s MG21 coordinator firmware. SONOFF Dongle Flasher webpage can flash Dongle-E and Dongle -P, but does not support flashing iHost MG21.

What you wrote concerns home assistant. I asked if such a function will be implemented in ewelink cube os ihost?

Will there be added support for SSD drives?

iHost has USB port, so SSD can be supported if you use SSD SATA to USB adapter.

Do you have any specific requirement for SSD support?

USB 2.0 is already an outdated technology.

If a new version of IHOST is being created, it should already have the ability to connect an SSD drive directly to the board.
