I replaced my house’s “dumb” watering system (a Hunter Sprinkler controller) with a 4-gang smart relay.
It was really easy as watering controllers are basically just relays with a clock which allow current to pass to each of you gardening zones at preset times. So now I set up watering times from my phone and I can enable/disable it remotely. So far so good. Extremely simple to do and already better than my old Hunter system.
However I wish I could set up a more advanced scene. For example, for it to consider if there’s a rain forecast or if it has rained to temporarily disable the watering scene. Or if there’s a day with too much heat, to lengthen watering times.
Ewelink’s default scene conditions are too limited. They don’t even allow me to include local weather as a precondition. I also don’t see any practical way to set up a scene to lengthen or shorten the time of the activity.
I think this all could be achieved with a plug in, similar to what the Thermo plug in achieves for heating and cooling.
It would be awesome. Please do it!
