OBSERVATIONS- iHost WiFi Device Names and Display Aspect Ratio

Here are are couple of observations regarding iHost (ver 2.3.2)

  1. My system includes a Sonoff WiFi TH16 Device that was located at a stairwell and appropriately named “Stairwell TH Switch”. I am going to redeploy the device elsewhere on the same LAN and wanted to change its name to “Sonoff TH16”. So made the initial name change on the phone eWeLink- no problems with that but noticed that the name change was not reflected for the device on the iHost eWeLink Smart Home page displayed as “Stairwell TH Switch”. Next step was to change the device name on the iHost home screen to “Sonoff TH16” but on returning to the eWeLink Smart Home page the name for the device was still showing as “Stairwell TH Switch”.
From the eWeLink Smart Home Screen I tried to unsync and then sync the device but the name did not change to the new name but on the iHost home screen the name for the device changed back to “Stairwell TH Switch” and the device had been removed from any iHost scenes that it was in. At the moment for this device it has the following names:
IHost Home Screen “Sonoff TH16” (inputted by me)
eWLink Smart Home “Stairwell TH Switch” (the former name for the device)
eWeLink Cloud App “Sonoff TH16” (inputted by me)
Potentially very confusing if there were a large number of WiFi devices involved.
There is a ticket out with Sonoff for this issue 220374.
  1. I am at the moment away from where the system is installed and accessing the iHost using Taliscale running on a laptop with a 4:3 ratio display. For this set up it is not possible to view the whole of the iHost screen by scrolling to the right. This could be something for Sonoff to look at for a future iHost software release.

As an update for Observation 1 I have found that to change the wifi device name in iHost and eWeLink Smart Home (ver 2.4.2) it is necessary to log out of the eWeLink account from eWeLink Smart Home, then log back in. The next steps are to unsync and sync the device, this will effect the name change for the device on the iHost home screen. This procedure removes the device from any iHost scenes that it may have been included in.
On an issue of security I’ve carried out some penetration tests from the Internet into the router hosting my iHost and it is possible to access it without credentials. As I see this as a security risk I operate my system off-line for most of the time except when it needs to connect to the internet for administration purposes for wifi devices, remote access or to check for updates.

Thx for the feedback. The team shall get back to you soon.

Thanks- as additional information: during the period that the device names were not synchronised between iHost Home Screen, eWeLink Smart Home and eWeLink Cloud its switch could still be controlled from iHost and eWeLink cloud (and eWeLink Web) and the temperatures were the same in iHost and eWeLink Cloud/ Web.

There is a new update for ewelink smart home v2.4.3.
What does the update bring or fix?

has the error of logging into the ewelink smart home add-on from two IHOST devices at the same time been fixed? You can only be logged into one add-on.
