NSPanel Pro webpages needs refresh / wake options

I love the webpages option which lets me use HomeSeer and WLED webpages on the NSPanel Pro, but I would really like to see…

  • an option to force the page to reload/refresh when touching the panel after it goes to sleep, cause right now if I leave a webpage up, the info displayed there is stale the next time I go to tap use the panel

  • an option to automatically load a default webpage when walking by (is there a motion sensor built in?) or touching the panel, on some panels I don’t care much for the home screen time/weather display but just want to go right to a webpage that is customized for all the lights/LEDs in that particular room.

A frequent refresh would cause unexpected trouble. The root of the issue is that HomeSeer or WLED won’t push updates to the frontend properly, unlike Home Assistant and local CAST.

As for the auto-on feature, you can create a smart scene using a nearby PIR as a trigger. The panel does not have this feature built-in.

Agreed that a refresh timer is a bad idea because you could be using it when the refresh occurs, but why not do a refresh of the page once- if the page is up when the screen wakes up? Currently the webpage screen stays just as you left it.

I do have a nearby PIR, but it’s a z-wave one, could I do a webhook or some kind of HTTP request to the panel to automatically launch a camera or a webpage? That would be really neat for doorbell integrations!

eWeLink WEB supports it but it’s included in the Advanced Plan; if you wanna try this, I’m glad to offer you a trial.

This will interrupt where users left the last time. Some will definitely be unhappy about this. It’s kinda hard to meet everyone’s needs.

“eWeLink WEB supports it but it’s included in the Advanced Plan”

Even though I was surprised to find this “Advanced Plan” is only $10/yr (at the time of this post) I have an moral and technical aversion to anything cloud dependent, not only cause the functionality and cost can change without warning, or disapear entirely, but because now it requires a working Internet+ cloud dependency piece … the device is already local to my network, why would I pay extra just to make it work if my Internet and your cloud services are up? Facepalm

I would never implement that in my own home, or for anyone else.

If a change is made in the future to enable webhooks (direct to the device, and not through another cloud/slow service like IFTTT) or use the built in light sensor threshold change to detect if someone is infront of the device … and then launch an icon/app based off of that, then please let me know, I’d be interested in this.

If you have a device that can run Node Red, such as an iHost or Home Assistant, you can send push http messages locally.
If you turn on developer mode on the NSPP there is a proximity sensor. Not sure why they don’t use it. Guessing it is too inaccurate
