NS panels all switched off together

Has anyone else had there NS panels all go down at once, dead screen, offline in eWeLink, physical buttons not working ?

Mine all went down twice today, on the latest firmware even one that wasn’t on the latest also went down

The electric circuit is fine as I have them on two separate circuits upstairs and downstairs also have M5 smart switches on the same circuits they have stayed online and working this is purely just the NS panels going dead until I power cycle them

Thanks

Well, what a coincidence! It’s exactly the same on my end. According to the HA logs, the NSPanel stopped working around 01:00 CET. The symptoms are identical to the ones you described. This doesn’t seem like a random coincidence.

@Leung I did some research and it looks like there’s a bit of a wave of NSPanel issues cropping up lately. Based on recent reports, many users have experienced NSPanel crashes or freezes starting around early June. Cold comfort, but at least we’re not alone in this

@MichaelLearnsToCode Sorry for the hassle, but you surely know who at Sonoff to reach out to with this issue and ask for a comment. Would you do that for us? Thanks.

Good to know it’s isn’t just isolated incident to my batch, mine was roughly 1 am GMT and once during the day and then 23:00 GMT last night so the issue is still there

No real correlation of when they have gone off

Does the issue still exist now? Could you do a power cycle? A complete power cycle should fix the issue now.

Please let me know if it still exists.

Hello.

No, it doesn’t.

Yes, I could, and I did. At first, though, I was convinced that the NSPanel had completely bricked. Nothing like this had ever happened before. I started searching online for a fix and discovered that the issue was widespread, and that powercycling the device was necessary to get it working again. If I hadn’t found that information, I would have assumed the device was dead.

For now, it’s all right. Note that 41eastview reported it occurring multiple times, which suggests it wasn’t just an isolated incident. Any thoughts on what could have caused it? Is it possible the NSPanel or its ESP32 microcontroller was specifically targeted in some way?

@joennuh aware the issue this morning, and SONOFF team put hands-on it immediately, now it’s fixed and please check the announcement below.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused to you. After our technical team conducted a thorough investigation, a recent upgrade to the third-party weather service introduced an unexpected issue. Our technical team promptly implemented adjustments to ensure full compatibility with the updated weather service. The solution was fully deployed by 11:00 AM (UTC+8) on 13th June.

We kindly ask you to power off your device and restart it to check if everything is back to normal. If you have any further issues, please feel free to contact us. Thank you for your understanding and patience!

That’s really comforting, because there’s nothing like the magic touch of Sonoff’s hand

Anyway, thanks for taking care of this unexpected problem.

Can confirm so far today no issues after power cycle, I’ll monitor over the next few days thanks for getting straight on it

Two days ago I had the same case, in ewelink NSPanel it went offline, the screen was blank and it didn’t respond to physical buttons. After restarting by turning off the power it started working properly but after about twelve hours the problem repeated. I restarted it again and it works for now. In my country they say “third time’s a charm”, if it does this again I’ll probably dig it out of the wall and throw it in the trash because I’m increasingly fed up with this ever unpredictable “miraculous” automation…

Oh, before you graciously f toss it in the trash, be sure to delicately obliterate it with an axe or some other elegant tool. And naturally, make the noble effort to deposit the mangled remains into the prestigious bin marked for electronic waste, because rules are rules

I have just returned home from being away and all of my NSPanels were off, a simple power cycle restarted them all

You did it rightly and as suggested in Sonoff’s official statement. Well done! :tada:

How funny, likewise all mine at the same time. NS Panel Pro was fine. I powered down the house and back up again and all have been fine since.

You did it rightly so. Bravo

NSPanel Pro was not affected. Different product with different operating system.
