How to recover after upgrade

Hi

I’ve upgraded on of my Pro120 and this is all I get, I can’t see to do anything else. A reboot just takes me back to this.

any ideas what it says and also how to recover

Thanks

If your NSPanel Pro boots into a screen that says Factory Mode and refuses to activate, here is what the message means and how to fix it.

:pushpin: What the Chinese text on the screen means (English translation):

  • Factory Mode
  • Your device is not activated!
  • Failed to obtain factory order number
  • chipId: bc69645a7926eb79
  • Production test functions
  • Activate device

This screen normally appears only in the factory during production testing.
If you see it at home, the device did not complete its activation or is running a factory/test firmware.

Why NSPanel Pro enters Factory Mode?

  • The device did not finish its first‑time activation.
  • No internet connection during activation.
  • Interrupted firmware update.
  • Device running factory/test firmware.
  • Incorrect reset or wipe.
  • Refurbished or returned unit.

This is a software state, not a hardware failure.

How to Exit Factory Mode / Recover NSPanel Pro?

:one: Try “Activate Device” (simple fix)
If the panel has Wi‑Fi access:

  • Connect the panel to Wi‑Fi
  • Tap Activate Device
  • Wait 1–2 minutes
  • If the activation server responds, the panel will switch to normal mode.

:two: Full reboot

  • Hold the power button for ~10 seconds
  • Let the device reboot normally
  • Sometimes this alone exits Factory Mode.

:compass: :three: Enter Recovery Mode (official method)
NSPanel Pro has a built‑in recovery loader.
Method A

  • Touchscreen recovery (most common)
  • Disconnect power
  • Press and hold the top‑left corner of the screen
  • While holding, reconnect power
  • Keep holding for 10–15 seconds
  • A Recovery Menu should appear

This works on most firmware versions.

Method B
USB‑C bootloader mode (advanced). Useful if the device is bricked.

  • Remove the panel from the wall and open it
  • Connect USB‑C to a computer
  • Hold Power (or Power + Volume Up depending on revision)
  • Device enters bootloader mode
  • Your PC will detect it as an ADB/Fastboot device

:floppy_disk: :four: Flashing Official Firmware. You can restore the system in two ways.

Method A
OTA firmware via eWeLink (recommended)

If the device appears in eWeLink:

  • Open eWeLink app
  • Select NSPanel Pro
  • Go to Device Settings → Firmware Update
  • Tap Force Update
  • Wait for the update to complete

Method B
Manual firmware flash (USB‑C)
For devices stuck in Factory Mode or with corrupted firmware.

You need:

  • USB‑C cable
  • PC (Windows/Linux/Mac)
  • ADB/Fastboot tools
  • Official firmware package (Sonoff/Itead can provide it)

Commands:

bash
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash vendor vendor.img
fastboot reboot

After reboot, the device should start normally.

:pushpin: Summary
If your NSPanel Pro shows Factory Mode, it simply means:

  • activation failed
  • firmware is incomplete
  • or the device is running factory/test software

Something from these suggestions should work, but I can’t guarantee it. Diagnosing this remotely is difficult. Similar cases have already been discussed on this forum, and the eWeLink team usually helps out. They seem willing to assist now as well. Just wait a bit — they will probably respond.

Thanks. Am away at present so will try when back home.
