Dear eWeLink Team,
First, thank you for your ongoing work on the eWeLink ecosystem. I would like to bring your attention to CamSync (eWeLink Camera Gateway). This software has not received a significant update in over three years, and several critical issues and missing features are affecting its usability:
-
Credential Persistence: Currently, credentials are not saved. Every time the Docker container reboots, users must manually sign in again. This prevents the gateway from being a reliable “set and forget” solution.
-
Missing Advanced Detection & Recording: While CamSync ports RTSP/ONVIF cameras to the app, it lacks essential security features like Motion Detection (Person, Pet, etc.) and options for Continuous or Event-based Recording (Cloud/Local).
-
Google Home Integration Stability: I am experiencing a persistent “loading loop” when viewing CamSync cameras via Google Home, even though they work perfectly in the eWeLink mobile app and eWeLink Web.
-
Advanced Plan Features: As a paid Advanced Plan subscriber, I expect more robust support and feature parity for CamSync, yet it feels neglected compared to native eWeLink cameras.
-
Third-Party Ecosystem Support: There is currently no native support to view CamSync cameras in SmartThings or Home Assistant, which are vital for pro-users.
-
Privacy & App Integration:
-
Please add a Privacy Toggle to allow or prevent viewing of CamSync cameras on demand.
-
Please allow CamSync cameras to be linked to other devices (switches, lights) so they appear in the device tab, similar to the standard “Link Camera” feature for Sonoff cameras.
-
I hope to see these improvements in a future update to make CamSync a competitive tool for the eWeLink community.
