Camera vertical view

Hello Sonoff Team,

I’m using NS Panel Pro 120 in portrait mode.

The SCam2 image only appears in landscape mode.

Wouldn’t it be great if an update were made so that it covers the entire screen in portrait mode?

This is just a suggestion—could it be added in future updates?

Hi orcun,

Thank you for your valuable feedback and suggestion!

You’re absolutely right — in portrait mode, the current SCam2 stream appears in landscape orientation because most camera sensors (like 1920×1080) are designed for a wide, horizontal view. If we stretch the image to fill the vertical screen, it would distort the picture. Cropping it to fit would lose part of the view.

One possible solution is to physically install the camera at a 90° angle so that it naturally matches the portrait orientation, allowing us to provide this type of view. However, this would change the field of view — you’d see more height and less width compared to the usual landscape image.

The pictures below show the difference: one is the full-screen landscape view, and the other illustrates what a full-screen vertical view would look like.

We really appreciate your idea of making the video automatically fill the portrait screen. Could you please confirm if I’ve correctly understood your request?

Thank you again for sharing your thoughts — it helps us improve the NS Panel Pro experience!

Best regards,

Hello dears, Yes, I mounted the camera at a 90-degree angle.

Wouldn’t it be nice if there was a button on the NS PANEL PRO 120 screen for camera settings that switched between Portrait and Landscape?

Ewelink has this feature, but the entire app switches to portrait mode. I think this is a problem. In the Ewelink app, only the camera should rotate, not the entire app.

Thank you for support.

Hello,

I think I understand your point much better now, and I really appreciate your valuable suggestion. I’ll discuss this with our team.

Just to make sure I didn’t miss anything, I’d like to clarify a few details:
Since you mounted the camera at a 90° angle, you can now see a portrait view both on the NS Panel Pro 120 and in the eWeLink app — but in both cases, the image appears rotated 90°, correct?

When you tap the full-screen button in the eWeLink app while viewing in portrait mode, the camera view looks normal. But if you switch to landscape mode, the camera view becomes rotated again — is that what you’re observing?

I’ve tested similar cases on the NS Panel Pro 120 and in the eWeLink app, and I agree this behavior can be confusing.

By the way, from my experience, the SCam works perfectly when the camera is mounted normally (horizontally). When mounted at 90°, the view becomes taller but narrower — giving more height and less width. Does that perspective work well for your setup? I’m curious what kind of monitoring scenario you’re using it for.

If it’s convenient, could you please share a photo of your setup? Seeing how the camera looks when mounted at 90° would help us better understand your viewing scenario and explore possible improvements.

Thank you again for your detailed feedback — it really helps us understand how to make the experience better.

Best regards,
jeremy
