i also in same situation. which i regret
can i request for firmware update from 1.5.6 to latest firmware and i manually update it myselt.
If you search on the internet you can find both a workaround to them loading it wirelessly for you and the update file for 2.3, which I think is the latest
NB: it is a pain to have to do it manually, but doable. I personally think they should provide the OTA files so atleast we don’t have to risk using files from the internet. That way if they update a major feature we can risk the firmware update if we want and they have to do nothing except maintain a single webpage with the firmware on it.
that does not work, when get the screen with the chinese qr-code you cant connect with usb or lan, odb does not work
I’ve never managed to get that screen but I’ve read instructions on what to do:
“Luckily you dont have to reflash your device. If you see a qrcode in the middle you somehow lost your ewelink licence.
Try the following
- disassemble the unit
- power it up by usb otg cable
- try to access it via adb”
is that a special usb cable ?
i tried with a normal usb cable…

Yes, but you might be able to make one from a cable you have or find one in a drawer. There are 5 pins on all micro-USB connectors but normally nothing is done with the 5th. From memory positions 1,2 3 and 5 are full. The usual 4 are ground/voltage/transmit/receive but in a different order that I can’t remember… You just need to also connect the empty one to ground. It just tells the android device it is the master: commonly used to connect android phones to USB memory sticks, webcams etc. Otherwise android phones just think they are connected to a computer as a slave.
i have been searching. … but so far can only find ota 1.3.3
Not entirely sure where you are looking of for what but Male Micro-USB OTG to female USB-A are really common because they are often how people connect memory sticks etc. to their android phones. Then you just need a male to male USB-A adapter. Personally I’d just have a look through my Micro USB cables for one that looked easily openable and then bodge it with a knife and a tiny wire.
Hi Eerke,
Clear and Thanks!, but i am not technical enough to make this cable
But, no problem with buying one
I have a micro usb to usb a male (but as i said thats not a OTG cable)
I search for a micro usb(male) to usb a(male) OTG but that does not exist.
Can i use these 2 instead?
I assume i connect the nspanel pro to my windows 11 pc with these two cables
Or do i have to attach a keyboard ?

Yes, although the prices seem quite high to me. You can get USB-A male to male adapters with no cable. For less than €1 I think. Also the OTG cable seems more than a normal USB cable and it hardly any different, so shouldn’t be much more.
Color K here:
https://a.aliexpress.com/_EwVrlTP
is €0.78 but with a minimum spend of €9.something.
And an OTG cable:

Just be careful there because the cheaper ones are USB-C only. €0.90. As micro-USB dies you might find that useful in the future.
Obviously you will pay a bit more because that takes 7 days to be delivered. I still think that is more than I’d pay.
did you get it to work… I’m on the chinese screen… and despite 5x off on, and factory resetting, it never connects to the computer via the OTG cable… looks like it’s completely bricked… rubbish
How long are you waiting when you turn it on?
It didn’t work for me either until I realised you can’t just off/on. It needs to get a way into the boot. From memory it was until the Sonoff sign appears and spins. Something like that. Point is I thought it didn’t work and wondered why it didn’t when it seemed to for everyone else.
For those who have the boot QR code that indicates that the device lost his eWlink license how to continue to use the device (without eWlink ecosystem) :
- Start a terminal screen command (use linux) with the following command
watch -n 1 adb install ultra-small-launcher.apk
- Start the recovery process unplugging/repluging the device 5 times
- Kill the command
You’ll be able to access home, enable settings - enable developer options and usb ADB.
You can now install home assistant and others softwares.
To enable and set Zigbee you can use the following tools :
sonoff-nspanelpro-scripts
any chance you could post a video of this working, so we can see exactly what’s supposed to happen at each stage??
I run the command.
off / on 5 times at the spinning SONOFF logo.
It says in Chinese that it’s restoring.
Reboots
Up pops the same QR code with Chinese writing saying doesn’t have the licence.
