Victron MQQT intergration

Hi

has anyone tried to get Victron MQTT brokers to iHost, something i would really like to do so i can use excess solar power to turn on water heaters. I know lots of us use Victron kit, either form the Victron Cerbo or via RPi to Venus OS. I am using this setup with Home Assistant but its a little techy and when I go to sell my ship these technologies need to be easy and self explanatory, any ideas?

best regards to all

I know nothing about Victron so sorry if I’m off topic, but can’t you use the Eclipse Mosquitto?

I use the Mosquitto broker and Node-red on my iHost and bring this into Smartthings via the Matter bridge.

Hi

It is worth an investigation on my behalf, I know off Node Red but to be honest I have not used it, maybe it’s time to have a look a bit deeper, thank you for the suggestion

when I installed Mosquito on an iHost the standard port was already in use. Pretty sure I read somewhere the NS Panel Pro has a broker. Will be nice if they let us set a username/password to use the built in broker. From what I’ve read installing a broker in android is a PITA. Then with the new f-droid in NSPP rollling out it’d be possible to connect any MQTT device to an NSPP running Node Red.

True, the normally default port 1883 cannot be used on the iHost. I use 8883, but any is valid..

Mosquitto does not need it, but in the case of MQTT over internet (Victron is cloud?) better you set one. The installation of the broker add-on is simple, as is the Node-red add-on on the iHost.

I was actually thinking more of people with just an NS Panel Pro and hence nowhere else to run am MQTT Broker. I think they’d have to download a Linux emulator from F-Droid and install the packages that way. If, the page I read is correct, there is already a broker they could just allow access to and open the NS Panel up to easy use of loads of other devices. Or just add a second broker. It would be much easier for them.
