Are you currently using the TRV through ZHA? At the moment, you can select the operating mode and use the manual temperature adjustment in ZHA. When you connect the device through Home Assistant, this feature is not related to the coordinator. The adaptive mode is already under testing, and we’re still collecting feedback and suggestions from our testers.
That’s indeed a great idea, managing devices together using a “group settings” approach. I’ll pass your suggestion to our team.
It would be nice to add a function to control the thermostat valve degree via a scenario. For example, my thermostat valve is set to close at 50%. When I open a window, I need the radiator to stop heating (remember that I have 50% closing degree valve). To achieve this, I would set the valve to 100% closed in the scenario.
I second this. Losing calibration is problem #1 in my experience with TRVZB. I’ll hope a fix will be released soon or at least a workaround (for example a service for recalibration)
I’d also like to request some improvement to the valve calibration - there is a tendency with some valves to not properly close, which means the radiator still gets hot when it shouldn’t, causing overheating.
This is especially prevalent if the valve opening/closing parameters are used to control the valve position for external PID control using something like Home Assistant.
Either the closing detection needs to be a bit more robust, or the TRVZB needs to be a bit less sensitive to the closed position (ie drive a bit harder before cutting the motor off when closing from a low percentage).
In any case, the only method of recalibrating the valve is to wait for the Monday noon cycle, which is only once per week, or to take the batteries out and manually recalibrate it. This is less than ideal if the valve is not in an easy to reach place.
It would be good to be able to manually trigger a valve recalibration via zigbee. Alternatively, is there any particular sequence of valve motion (opening/closing) that can serve the same function?
The other feature I’d like to request is the ability to use set points with finer granularity than 0.5ºC. At present, if you change the set temperature with Home Assistant, it reverts back to the closest 0.5º interval after a while. I realise the internal display can only show that interval, but I don’t see a reason why the valve can’t regulate to a finer temperature setting when controlled externally.
I’m using ZHA.
It would be really useful to have the TRVZB internal temperature value available, even when ‘External temperature sensor’ is selected.
Is it possible to add it as an additional parameter in the next update please? Or change the value that is now returned when ‘External’ is selected.
It makes no sense to return the value it has been sent from an external sensor.
I would like to use it indicate if there is heat in the radiator to control other devices. IE. Fans.
TIA.
the external sensor is more reliable
That is clear. It is better to use an external sensor for control.
But why would the TRVZB need to return the value of the external temperature?
Of what use is that?
I use these two measurements in my gateway in case the gateway does not receive the signal from one of the thermometers.
I don’t understand.
What ‘two’ measurements?
So, I guess the 21.9c value shown next to the little radiator, is a sort of confirmation that it has received the value sent by the sensor. ( 21.9c value next to the thermometer)? Simply by always displaying identical values?
Would you prefer to see the value measured at the radiator, next to the little radiator?
No. The first two measurements are from the external thermometer. The last one is from the thermostat head. I calibrated the temperature, and both show similar readings. They differ slightly when the radiator is hot. This is my thermostat’s safeguard in case one of the sensors fails to send the measurement to the gateway. That’s why I believe there should be confirmation that the temperature has been sent.
