Is it possible to flash ewelink firmware to a previous tasmota flashed sonoff basic.
I have tried 8 sonoffs now with 6 ewelink firmware.bin.
It looks like it is impossible.
Has anybody any ideas?
Thanks
The original firmware is tied to the chip’s MAC address. The only option before flashing is to get an original copy of that device with that specific MAC address.
Thanks. Rather stupid though. Now i am ready to through 10 sonoff basic to the waste bin. Not very green!
You can always flash with Tasmota or other software, and although it doesn’t work with eWeLink, it can work with Home Assistant.
yes i know. They have been working for years with tasmota together with home assistant . Now i which to used them with ewelink as standalone again. Unfortunately the producer does not wish to repurpose it product for a imo stuppid reason.
Thanks
you could somehow change the Mac, you could clone the firmware from a donor device. It might be a bit crazy, and it would mean inserting the firmware from TU YA device and using the other app. It’s a bad idea to say it here, but it’s for the sake of green politics!
