Outdoor PIR sensors

What options are there for outdoor PIR or motion sensors (either Zigbee, WiFi or RF433) that will keep out a British winter…

Any ideas?

Thanks

I bought a Philips Hue Outdoor Motion Sensor - believing that it would be compatible with iHost. Unfortunately that is not yet the case. I’ve raised this with the eWeLink team and am hoping they will provide support for it in the near future.

But that is also the only decent outdoor PIR I could find

Did anyone find an outdoor PIR?

I haven’t seen one but I’m pretty sure you could make one, although I’d go for mm wave rather than PIR so you could put it into a weatherproof box and not need to worry about it being able to see stuff as they can see through most materials.

Alternatively if you don’t mind a light being on you could buy a security light with a PIR sensor and then just use whether the light is on to trigger a relay that triggers a Zigbee water sensor. That might be the easiest.

Thought of a second idea: do you have a presence sensor to test with? Presence sensors see through walls. There is some attenuation but it can even see through external brick walls. It may be possible to place a presence sensor indoors and still see outdoors. I’ve had to tilt mine so as not to be triggered by neighbours and people walking outside etc.

I can suggest this https://a.aliexpress.com/_EIgpEco
I have 3 outsides since long time. I have test a lot of pir. Is the better. If not directly exposed to the sun, no false detection. And full compatibility with ihost. No issue with the rain.
I use it only for light after sunset and night alarm. Work perfectly.
I see 8€ for 1 but remember that I got 2 for 8€ maybe when discount …
