“HA over iHost” Open Source Project is Officially Live!

It seems the 5.8GHz signal is leaking from the SNZB-06P in a nearly 360° radiation pattern, and it’s also passing through my plasterboard walls, detecting people in other rooms, even when it’s set to the lowest sensitivity.

I 3D-printed a case, then lined the inside with copper tape, leaving only a 25mm aperture exposed in the front to make the signal more directional.

It’s working much better now :+1:

Interesting observation

Change the detection period to more than 30 seconds. This makes the sensor more accurate. I set mine to 50 because in a small room with a lower value, the sensor was giving false readings.

On mine, this didn’t work.
And it’s also an waste of electricity setting the lights to remain on by longer than needed.

Unfortunately, this sensor has this problem. It’s of poor quality.

:sad_but_relieved_face:

I use other sensors, primarily Matter with Home Assistant.

I bought three new presence sensors. It seems the newer ones have git instructions on placements that can.potentislly lead to false detection.

I already have several, and have nit experienced any challenges so far

They could have an option to reduce the radar signal to a much lower power, on the settings or by a switch.
It’s working great in my scenario, with the 3D Printed case with copper tape, as I wrote above, so the radar power is the root cause.

Was just thinking, perhaps a higher watts charger could also be a culprit?

These things are supposed to run on.low watts, but low watts chargers or sources of DC power are hard to find these days.

Nope.
The power supply delivers what the device requires.
If your power supply is 15W and the device consumes 2W, the power supply will deliver 2W.

Basically, you’re right. However, there’s one more thing: the stability of the power supply. Many times I’ve found that some units don’t provide sufficiently stable current. Cheap ones with simple designs, in particular, tend to have fluctuations or ripple. It’s worth checking how it performs with another power supply that, as you mentioned, has the proper wattage and is also stable.

Yes, I know.
There is no place for cheap power supplies in my home. I take this matter very seriously, even because electricity is the main reason for fire.
The housing with copper tape fixed my issue

I am wondering what happened to Ihost V2 project. Was expecting it for Black Friday.

Home Assistant Green Prices have also increased.

One can expect such devices to become even more expensive. The reason is rising memory prices. For example, retail prices of DDR5 modules have more than doubled despite all those Black deals. Unfortunately, the trend is upward, mainly driven by AI.

The deprecation woes are now knocking so hard. Terminal & SSH has just removed its support today. Lol!

Months ago I said a 32‑bit iHost with HA onboard makes no sense… got roasted like I’d insulted their holy grail :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

All add-on updates have been rolled back for the 32-bit version.

Zigbee2MQTT Update
Error updating Zigbee2MQTT: Add-on 45df7312_zigbee2mqtt not supported on this platform, supported architectures: aarch64, amd64
2.7.1-1
Updated Zigbee2MQTT to version 2.7.1

Ewelink was supposed to provide updates to basic add-ons for the 32-bit version. I wonder if they’ll keep their word.

If Sonoff had released the new Ihost before one or two months ago they might have sold it to many who are migrating from non 64 Bit systems.

Nabu Casa has ceased the production of the HA Yelllow, prices of HA, Green and Raspberry PI are higher than ever. There was a time when the HA Green was completely sold out.

I cannot believe I have a HA Green in one of my sites that I bought last year for just $99. Look at their prices at the moment!

Hi, any plan to have the Detach Relay working on ZBM5?
I updated the firmware (on Home Assistant ZHA) today to version 0x00001006, but I’m not finding where to enable the Detach Relay.
