“HA over iHost” Open Source Project is Officially Live!

This is a feature request related to eWeLink CUBE OS, not HA over iHost. So it’s better to let @yitie answer it.

Hey, how are you doing these days?

I think at the right time, when CUBE’s functionality has stabilized a bit more, we’ll work on getting specific addons to start with the system, and we’re aiming for plug and play.

@MichaelLearnsToCode
I saw that the matter server was removed from the presentation text for this version of HA for iHost. Does this mean that this part will no longer happen?

Studio Code Server
This would also be cool to have in the project!

We will definitely add support for Matter server add-on. We have just ported ESPHome Device Builder add-on to HA over iHost, so we will start working on Matter server add-on soon.

Studio Code Server (VSCode) add-on was initially on our list. It seemed too heavy and didn’t work as smoothly as we expected after we did some test runs.

Could you share your usecases for VSCode with us, and why the “File editor” add-on or the “Advanced SSH & Web Terminal” add-on isn’t enough?

Matter Bridge for iHost

What would be the chances of you adding LOCK type devices? And Media Players like Televisions?

For the first version which will be released next week, we will support the following device types:

  • plug
  • switch
  • light
  • motionSensor
  • contactSensor
  • button
  • temperatureSensor
  • temperatureAndHumiditySensor
  • airQualityAndHumiditySensor
  • thermostat
  • curtain

From a technical point of view, nothing will stop us from supporting LOCK type. But we need to put our resources on things with higher priority.

Would you please tell us your use case, also the brand and device model of your LOCK device, we may support it sooner if we understand the case better.

I have locks made via esphome and I have some zigbee from other brands connected to HA. They are all recognized as LOCK entities. I have the bridge installed and at least for me it hasn’t worked correctly yet. It would be nice to have support for air conditioning as well.

Will they support energy data? My main platform is SmartThings and this addon would be a great addon for SmartThings if the data and these devices are integrated. Because old products that don’t work with SmartThings would now work.

Hi! I have Home Assistant OS Core 2025.5.2 Supervisor 2025.04.0 Operating System 15.2.1 on Lexar A2 64GB and backup file from Home Assintant OS Core 2025.5.2 Supervisor 2025.05.1 Opereting System 12.0.rc1. Нow to update Supervisor from 2025.04.0 to 2025.05.1 to avoid error… Help me please and forgive me for my English…

I have been running HA on Ihost flawlessly now for over a month. i have also received numerous firmware updates. Congratulations and thanks for this excellent initiative!!! We now need a new Ihost running on 64bit processor.

System updates arrive automatically and you receive notification, if you ignored the update message then find it in system settings updates

hi what TF card you are used and on cube os you are 2.5.1 o 2.5.2? thanks

First I updated to version 2.5.1 before downloading the HA image. I used Balena Etcher to burn the image to a 64 Gb TF Card. The first attempt failed, it even killed the SD card.

The second attempt was successful. It takes a while for Home Assistant to be accessible once the heartbeat LED light starts to blink, you need to be patient. The heartbeat blue light is a good sign of HA being successfully detected.

In terms of the SD Card I used the SandDisk.Ultra 64 Gb.

Home Assistant works perfectly with the ihost.

Lets give praise where its deserved. I personally have tried different brands. I find Sonoff to be one of the companies that makes high quallity and reliable products.

Save for being on 32 Bit, the Ihost beats way too many, if not most of them hardware running Hone Assistant out there.

Perhaps future Ihost should come with Home Assistant and Ecube installed from.the factory.

Kerp.up with the great work!

This is unlikely, as the Home Assistant platform is not a commercial project and no licences are granted to hardware manufacturers.

What is ‘Ecube’?

Home Assistant and related projects are all released under Apache 2.0 license. So there is no legal issue for companies like SONOFF to develope commercial products using Home Assistant source code and its technologies. Actually the Open Home foundation who is in charge of the developement of Home Assistant and related technologies encourages third parties (including commercial entities) to develope products using or works with HA and its technologies.

The new iHost (64 bit SoC, 5G Wi-Fi, and a lot of other hardware enhancements) is underway. We are finalizing its design and it will also be part of the iHost Open Source Project.
