Want more control over your Zigbee devices or a clearer view of your Zigbee network?
ZBBridge-U now includes a built-in Zigbee2MQTT web interface. It provides additional controls and advanced settings for supported Zigbee devices, along with a visual network map, without requiring a separate Zigbee2MQTT setup.
With the Zigbee2MQTT web interface, you can:
- Add and manage Zigbee devices via Zigbee2MQTT
- Access additional device controls and advanced settings
- View device connections through a Zigbee network map
Let’s take a closer look~
Before You Start
To use the Zigbee2MQTT web interface, join the ZBBridge-U Beta Program and update your ZBBridge-U to Beta firmware v3.7.0.
1. Access the Zigbee2MQTT Web Interface
The Zigbee2MQTT web interface is available directly from the ZBBridge-U Local Web Portal.
Open the ZBBridge-U Local Web Portal using one of the following:
- http://zbbridgeu-{Device ID}.local
- The bridge’s IP address
In the Local Web Portal, go to Zigbee > Zigbee Devices > Zigbee2MQTT.
Select Open Zigbee2MQTT in the Before You Continue dialog.
That’s it. You’re now in the Zigbee2MQTT web interface.
2. Add Zigbee Devices with Zigbee2MQTT
-
Open the Zigbee2MQTT web interface.
-
Click Permit Join.
-
Put your Zigbee device into pairing mode by following its user manual.
-
Once pairing is complete, the device will appear in the Zigbee2MQTT device list.
-
Open the device control page to explore its available controls and advanced settings.
This gives you access to device capabilities and configuration options that may not be exposed through the eWeLink App.
3. How Device Synchronization Works
Device additions and removals are synchronized across the Zigbee2MQTT Web Console, the ZBBridge-U Local Web Portal, and the eWeLink App.
3.1 Add Devices via Zigbee2MQTT
When you add a device through the Zigbee2MQTT web interface, it automatically appears in:
- The Zigbee device list in the Local Web Portal
- The eWeLink App
In the eWeLink App, only the device controls supported by the app will be available, even if Zigbee2MQTT exposes additional capabilities.
3.2 Already Added Devices via eWeLink App or Local Web Portal?
If you add a Zigbee device through the eWeLink App or the ZBBridge-U Local Web Portal, it will automatically appear in the Zigbee2MQTT web interface.
You don’t need to pair it again.
3.3 Device Removal Is Synchronized Too
If you remove a device from Zigbee2MQTT, it will also be removed from the Local Web Portal and the eWeLink App.
If that device has already been bridged to a Matter-enabled platform or integrated with Home Assistant, it will also be removed from the corresponding platform.
4. Create a Visualized Zigbee Network Map
As your Zigbee network grows, a simple device list may make it harder to see how devices are connected.
You may want to know:
- Is a device connected directly to ZBBridge-U or through another device?
- Which devices act as routers, and which are end devices?
The Zigbee2MQTT network map shows the connections between devices, giving you a clearer view of how your Zigbee network is organized.
View the Network Map
In the Zigbee2MQTT web interface, go to Network > Map. Then select your preferred Display Type.
Zigbee2MQTT will scan the network and generate a visual topology map showing the relationships between devices.
Note:
- A network scan may take some time, especially on larger Zigbee networks.
- Zigbee devices may also respond more slowly for a short time during the scan.
- Run a scan only when you need to inspect or troubleshoot the network, rather than refreshing it frequently.
5. Before You Change Advanced Settings
Zigbee2MQTT provides access to advanced settings that are not available in the eWeLink App. Change these settings ONLY when you understand how they affect the device.
Take particular care when changing settings such as Bind and Reporting. Incorrect changes may leave a device unresponsive, prevent its data from synchronizing, or cause it to go offline.
If you are unsure what a parameter does, consult the official Zigbee2MQTT documentation before making changes.
6. Why We Built This
This feature grew directly out of requests from ZBBridge-U users for more device control and clearer network visibility. Thank you to everyone who shared feedback and helped shape it.
To check which devices and features are currently supported by ZBBridge-U, see the ZBBridge-U Device Compatibility List.
Which device capability would you most like to access through the Zigbee2MQTT web interface?
Let us know in the comments. If you encounter an issue, feel free to share the details on the forum so we can continue improving ZBBridge-U.
Upcoming Updates
We’re continuing to expand ZBBridge-U with new features and broader device compatibility. Check out the latest updates:
- Expanded Matter Bridge Compatibility — Four new Zigbee device types are now supported: Flow Sensor, Rain Sensor, Soil Sensor, and Air Purifier.
- eWeLink Cameras to Matter — Bring cameras from your eWeLink account into Matter-enabled platforms and view supported video feeds.
More updates are on the way. Stay tuned!
