In our country, there is a chronic issue with the state-provided electricity. In contrast, private companies provide backup power during state electricity outages, but it is very expensive. One of my main goals in installing Sonoff smart systems is to manage household appliances between the state electricity line and the private company line. When state electricity is available, I want to operate many appliances, and when it is not, I want to turn them off. However, there is a problem with the scene setup. When the primary device, which controls all the other devices to achieve this scene, goes offline due to a state electricity outage, all the remaining devices stay on.

I know this issue has been discussed a lot here, but I still don’t understand it. Someone suggested using the Macrodroid app, but I haven’t been able to figure out how to set it up despite numerous attempts.

I kindly ask those with experience to share how they have dealt with this problem.

I understand that you have electricity from another source when the main one is not supplying power, yes? I also understand that there is some sort of switching system. How does it work? Automatically or manually?
And one more thing. How well do you understand electrical installation issues? If poorly or not at all, the forum is unlikely to be a good source of advice. You can’t do without consulting a professional.

Yes, I have another power source, and it switches between it and the state electricity line using an automatic switch.

Regarding the installation of these systems, I have basic knowledge that allowed me to set them up. When I encounter problems or feel the task is beyond my capabilities, I consult an electrician. However, the electricians here are not familiar with automation; their expertise is in traditional home wiring. They don’t have a good understanding of how Sonoff devices work. The initial setup was simple after I explained it to them, but this is the final step I need your expertise on. I can discuss it with my electrician, and he will implement it accordingly.

In short, you want the automation system to recognise the power source and switch selected loads on or off depending on this. You also want to achieve this using the eWeLink platform and Sonoff devices. Is that right?

With Sonoff and eWeLink that may be hard to achieve. Let me think about it and I’ll come back later hoping that some bright idea will hit my mind.
Tell me something more about the power source switching. How is it done? Can you provide a drawing or/and some photos?

Hey,
I think maybe it could be use the devices that I wrote in the post below on July 5th ([Push notification on Power On state - #52 by dany.rouss](https://forum.ewelink.cc/t/push-notification-on-power-on-state/247/52)). You should consult with your electrician about the possibility of using this device.
This can connect this, for example, to a state electricity outlet. If the electricity from a state electricity is online, then the sensor will be closed and it can be configured as a condition in your respective scenarios, if the electricity is from private companies, then the sensor will be open and the condition in the scenarios will not work

This I could figure out easily. I was referring to the actuators used and their actual photo.
What is it? A contactor? What kind? How is it controlled and with what?

Hello,

I have a similar situation and i have done the setup and everything was working fine until 1 month ago.
let me explain what i did:
I have 2 sources of power, city electricity and private generator.
When the City Electricity is on i want to flip the water heater breaker.
what i did:

- Install a SonOff BasicR2 on the City Electricity line, so the device will go online when the electricity is on. In the configuration of the BasicR2, you create a scene that the electricity is on, you can choose as a trigger when the device is on.
- My heater is linked to a wifi breaker (Tongo) which uses another application.
- I synched both devices with Google Home, and i created a scene in Google Home where once the Electricity is On Scene from ewelink is active, switch on the breaker of the heater.

The system worked perfectly for over 6 months, until last month, the Electricity on trigger stopped working, i opened a case with Ewelink, i’ll keep you updated with the status.

Best Regards,
Dany

I think i have idea how about to use sonoff pow ring energy meter so i can support it with backup electricity and make it measure the state electricity but i have no idea about it and if the plan can work

If you check the POW Elite, it is possible to create a scene where the device shuts down or turns on when the power reaches your specified level. My plan with the POW Ring is to measure the wire to monitor the state of electricity. If possible, I want to create a scene where the device shuts down if there is no power.

In my case it’s easy, as the private generator turns on once the City electricity is off.
So once the device is on, it stays on until the electricity goes off. After 30s the private generator kicks in and the device stays off as the Relay state is OFF by default.
