A simple floating magnet and contactor($3.14) module connected via a two-wire 0.5mm cable to Sonoff DW2-RF (open version only).

In DW2-RF, the contactor is desoldered… soldered wires, each wire in a separate thermoplastic sleeve with glue, the whole in an additional thermoplastic sleeve with glue.
In DW2-RF, a hole is cut for the cable.

The whole thing works on the principle that when the water level drops below a certain point, the sensor is opened and the DW2-RF sends a signal… the rest is based on scenes.

I use this to turn off the water pump so that it does not run dry.

[I just found this on AliExpress: CZK265.67 | Ewelink Zigbee3.0 Water Sensor Alarm Water Leak Detector Flood Alert Overflow Security Alarm System Works With Zigbee Gateway [https://a.aliexpress.com/\_EyMxoKY](https://a.aliexpress.com/_EyMxoKY)](I just found this on AliExpress: CZK265.67 | Ewelink Zigbee3.0 Water Sensor Alarm Water Leak Detector Flood Alert Overflow Security Alarm System Works With Zigbee Gateway [https://a.aliexpress.com/\_EyMxoKY](https://a.aliexpress.com/_EyMxoKY))

When using this sensor, you get water animation and it also supports scene creation when the device is offline.

DW2-RF is unfortunately very unreliable (like all RF sensors) and such a system does not always turn off the pump…

It all depends on the strength of the signal, interference, etc. I still use one DW2-RF and works in 9/10 cases and recently I adapted 05p to this role but with zigbee there is also a risk that it can lose connectivity at a bad time.

I have a float switch connected to a MiniR2 which triggers the pump accordingly.

I also think a float switch is a better solution in this case. It may not be flashy, but it’s definitely more reliable 🙂
